The latest name to officially put pen to paper with All Elite Wrestling is two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Kevin Knight.

Knight is making the media rounds and one of his stops was a chat with Sid Pullar III of The Takedown on Sports Illustrated. As the conversation went on, Knight revealed that he’s under contract to both AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Well, I can actually say this right here, right now, I’m representing both AEW and New Japan. I’m still contracted with both companies, so there’s no threat, ‘The Jet’ is still here to stay.

In a separate interview with Adrian Hernandez, Knight confirmed that he participated in a WWE tryout prior to signing with AEW.

He did not feel disrespected or slighted by WWE offering him that opportunity. Knight said he knows how the business works. He called it a great experience and is glad he got to do it.

I wouldn’t say disrespectful in a way. I understand how the business works and you know, WWE is a machine and sometimes it may be a bubble. So they may not know exactly what’s out there so I didn’t take it as disrespect. If anything, I took it as a challenge just to show what I’m about and if they didn’t know me before, well, then they definitely do now or they did when I walked through those doors. I’ma make a statement anywhere I go and that was a great experience as well. I’m glad I got to do that, and I got to meet a lot of people in that company and it was great just being able to work with people so closely that you see on TV every week, that you see on their PLEs and everything so me personally, it was a great learning experience. I didn’t take any slight to it. I understand how the business works so, it was, if anything, a networking opportunity. Again, exhausting all of my options so, I feel like I only grew from that. Just seeing how they work, seeing what they’re looking for and just seeing the environment that’s there because it’s so different from me coming from the L.A. Dojo, you know what I mean? Where it’s only like four of us in a class with (Katsuyori) Shibata, and our teacher can’t speak English. TNA and AEW don’t have a training facility per se so to see how they do it, it was just, you know, a cool way to see how a different way, how they do things so, if anything, it was a positive experience for me overall.

Knight is coming off of a loss in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. He fell in defeat to Will Ospreay in the opening round at Dynasty.

In May, Knight will be heading to Japan to compete in NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
