WWE will continue its rollout of its tape libraries on YouTube with a channel dedicated to Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

The Verge has a story on WWE’s digital success on YouTube, where its primary channel boasts 108 million subscribers and ranks #11 among all YouTube channels worldwide, according to vidIQ.

Over the past year, the company has added additional channels dedicated to WCW (235k subs) and NXT (111k), as well as the popular WWE Vault (1.8 million) featuring archived content, matches, and never-before-seen footage.

In the article, it notes that ECW will be the next brand to host its own channel:

Encouraged by Vault’s success, WWE has recently launched a dedicated channel for WCW, the wrestling promotion that it famously spent decades competing against and eventually acquired. Soon there will be another for ECW and its extremely brutal events.

ECW ran from 1993 until 2001, when the promotion declared bankruptcy and its library was later obtained by the WWE and led to a very successful DVD release, The Rise and Fall of ECW, in 2004.

The expanded strategy on YouTube coincides with many international markets migrating to Netflix, where non-WWE content is not included, and has left a void for previous subscribers to the WWE Network.

Peacock’s streaming deal with WWE has less than one year remaining on its domestic licensing deal for the WWE Network and includes its premium live events.
