AAA Verano De Escándalo Night 2 Results: Rey Fenix retains, La Parka advances to TripleMania title match

Rey Fenix retained the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Mini Vikingo during the second week of Verano de Escándalo.

La Parka also qualified for the four-way match that will crown a new AAA Latin American Champion at TripleMania 34.

The episode was taped on July 25 at Arena San Marcos in Aguascalientes, Mexico, as part of AAA’s three-week Verano de Escándalo event.

Dominik Mysterio addresses his actions

Footage aired from after the first week of Verano de Escándalo, when Dominik Mysterio abandoned El Grande Americano during their match against Perros del Mal.

The AAA Mega Champion asked what Americano expected from “Dirty Dom” and accused him of just pretending to be Mexican. Mysterio declared himself the real king of the luchadores and said he controlled AAA.

Mecha Wolf vs. La Parka vs. Lince Dorado

La Parka defeated Mecha Wolf and Lince Dorado to advance in the tournament for the vacant AAA Latin American Championship.

Dorado replaced Dragon Lee, who withdrew after suffering a torn ligament in his thumb during the July 20 episode of WWE Raw.

Mecha Wolf and Dorado initially worked together against La Parka before turning on each other. La Parka later wiped out both opponents with a moonsault to the floor.

Dorado hit La Parka with a backstabber, but Wolf interrupted the cover. Wolf then delivered a twisting suplex from the ropes to Dorado before La Parka stopped his pinning attempt.

La Parka planted Wolf with a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Dorado followed with a shooting star press on La Parka, who also kicked out.

Wolf sprayed poison mist into Dorado’s face as he climbed the ropes. La Parka capitalized with a Spanish Fly, although Wolf broke up the resulting cover.

Wolf later attempted a splash but landed on Dorado when La Parka moved. La Parka removed Dorado with a dive and finished Wolf with the Bonebreaker.

La Parka now joins El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. in the four-way championship match at TripleMania 34.

Psycho Circus spotted backstage

A backstage clip showed members of Psycho Circus arriving at the venue. Pagano, who is sidelined by injury, was not with the group.

Daga promises further Perros del Mal growth

Daga delivered a backstage message on behalf of Perros del Mal.

He described the group as the locker room’s nightmare and said their problems with El Grande Americano were not over.

Daga added that Perros del Mal sets the rules and would continue to grow during the third week of Verano de Escándalo.

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno vs. Drago & Dinamico

El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno defeated Drago and Dinamico in a one-sided tag match.

Wagner and Dinamico began with a quick exchange before Drago entered. The brothers soon took control through regular tags and their size advantage.

Wagner stood on Galeno’s shoulders to deliver a splash to Drago. Galeno then hit the Galeno Special and scored the pin.

Rey Mysterio discusses Dominik’s alliance

In a press conference segment, AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio addressed Dominik’s decision to align with Dorian Roldán and Omos.

Rey said he had not anticipated the alliance but felt it made sense because Dominik and Roldán both resented their fathers and blamed them for their problems.

Rey Fenix vs. Mini Vikingo

Fenix retained the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against 18-year-old Mini Vikingo.

The champion used his strength and experience early, while Vikingo relied on speed and aerial offense. Fenix eventually intercepted him in midair with a kick.

Vikingo responded with a tornado splash, dropkick and a headscissors-based driver for a near fall. He later countered Fenix’s offense into a crucifix driver.

Fenix walked the ropes to deliver a kick and followed with a Death Valley Driver, but Vikingo survived. The challenger answered with a standing Spanish Fly, poisonrana and frog splash for additional near falls.

Vikingo caught Fenix with a Spanish Fly from the top rope and later attempted a Phoenix Splash. The champion moved before setting up the Mexican Muscle Buster.

Vikingo escaped the first attempt and rolled Fenix up for two. Fenix then struck him with a flying knee, but Vikingo kicked out shortly after the count began.

A second Mexican Muscle Buster secured the victory for Fenix.

The champion showed respect to Vikingo after the match before celebrating with the crowd.

Dorian Roldán approaches Mini Vikingo

The broadcast followed Mini Vikingo as he walked backstage following his loss.

Roldán approached and whispered something in his ear before leaving. Vikingo appeared surprised by the message as the episode ended.

Next week

The final week of Verano de Escándalo will feature Flammer defending the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Lady Shani and La Catalina.
