Heyman thought different WrestleMania plans were on the horizon for Punk.
The main event of WrestleMania 41 night one will be a Triple Threat match that’ll see CM Punk versus Roman Reigns versus Seth Rollins. Paul Heyman will be in Punk’s corner.
Going into the match, all four individuals are making the media rounds and one of Heyman’s stops was SI Media with Jimmy Traina.
Heyman shared that prior to the storyline with Punk, Reigns and Rollins coming to fruition, he thought Punk would be main eventing WrestleMania 41 against either GUNTHER or Cody Rhodes. If Heyman had been asked several months ago who he thought was winning the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber, he would have picked Punk as the winner of one of those.
To be blunt with you, I think we both thought that (CM) Punk was gonna main event WrestleMania this year either against GUNTHER or Cody Rhodes. If you ask me, even money, who was gonna win the Royal Rumble and/or the Elimination Chamber? I’d say Punk’s gonna win one of ‘em, and therefore Punk was gonna face one of the champions at WrestleMania in a main event and it wouldn’t conflict with whatever Roman Reigns was gonna do whether he would be facing the other champion, or facing Seth Rollins, or whomever.
Both Rhodes and GUNTHER have title defenses at WrestleMania. GUNTHER is defending the World Heavyweight Title against Jey Uso and in the main event of night two, Rhodes is defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena.
