Omega was feeling the nerves up until he got inside the Tokyo Dome.

The semi-main event of the Wrestle Dynasty event at the Tokyo Dome was a singles match between Gabe Kidd and Kenny Omega. It was Omega’s first match since December 2023.

He had been away from the ring to tend to issues related to diverticulitis and Omega is on the record saying that things were looking dire for him health-wise.

While on his Twitch stream, he opened up about the return bout and said he was nervous for it. He spoke about getting the point where he could get back into the ring, despite the health scares he had leading up to it.

Yeah, you could say that (I was nervous for Wrestle Dynasty match against Gabe Kidd). I mean, for me to be out as long as I was, not knowing if I could come back and having the number of scares even leading into that match. I’d been to the hospital. I had to get overnighted and I think I spent minimally four days after the surgery on four separate occasions again and when I had felt those pains coming back when I was in Japan, boy, was that nerve-racking. I think that was just nerves because I was up in my own head. So I was getting in my own head about worrying about my condition not being the way it needed to be for the match. So, I was worrying about worrying about worrying about my stomach, about screwing up the match, about all that stuff so, yeah, it was just a deadly loop that was not good for anybody and it took for me to be in the building, to be in Tokyo Dome, to feel the air, to see it when it was empty, see the empty seats and to see the elaborate setup and just kind of feel it again. It sounds weird but to see it, to smell it even. It’s like a dome, right? And they’re always testing entrances and stuff so they’re setting off the pyro and they’re doing all the smoke and it’s kind of smokey before the show so it’s like there’s a smell to it too and it’s like, once I was there, I was like, this is familiar. I know what this is. This is a home to me, and I don’t need to feel worried about it, regardless of how I feel.

Present day, Omega is the reigning AEW International Champion. His latest defense was at the Dynasty pay-per-view where he retained over Ricochet and ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey in a three-way.
