This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite received some last-minute additions as of Tuesday evening, including a pair of matchups with title implications.
It was confirmed on Tuesday night that Toni Storm’s title eliminator tour will continue in Detroit, Michigan this Wednesday with possibly her toughest challenge yet ahead of her.
The current AEW Women’s World Champion will try to fend off Thunder Rosa, Anna Jay and Penelope Ford from a future title shot when she takes on all three in a title eliminator four-way match.
Storm has prevailed in three different title eliminators in recent weeks, beating Queen Aminata, Miyu Yamashita and Lady Frost on TV. However, unlike recent bouts, in the upcoming four-way, she doesn’t have to get pinned or submitted to lose the match.
It was also recently announced that AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada will face off against Kevin Knight in an eliminator match.
While Okada and Knight have worked in the same promotions before, both notably appearing for NJPW in recent years before moving over to AEW, the upcoming bout will be a first-time singles booking. The two shared a ring for the very first time just last month when they appeared in an eight-man tag bout.
Okada will be trying to fend off a potential challenge that could threaten to end his 413-day reign as champ, which has included 11 successful past appearances with the title on the line.
