Can They Co-Exist?
Smackdown from Dayton, Ohio, kicked off with two of the four competitors in the 4-Way United States Championship Match tomorrow night at Backlash competing in a tag team match. Before heading to the ring, LA Knight and Damian Priest agreed they would have each other’s backs tonight against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. Priest and Knight started off on the same page but quickly began arguing as the show took its first commercial break.

As we returned, Damian Priest went for a tag, but LA Knight was taken off the apron from a cheapshot from Jacob Fatu that commentary explained Priest didn’t see happen. Finally, Knight got the tag, much to the crowd’s delight. Just as Knight was going for the jump-up, leaping elbow, Priest blind-tagged himself in as the crowd booed. Priest set up for the South of Heaven, and Knight blind-tagged himself in. The team began arguing, and Solo Sikoa briefly capitalized, going for the Samoan Spike but instead eating a BFT.
Priest and Knight immediately started slugging each other, allowing Jacob Fatu to beat them both down and then pose with the United States title. As Fatu’s music played, the camera stayed tight on Fatu until Drew McIntyre hit a Claymore on Fatu from out of nowhere, himself then posing with the title as the segment ended.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre was interviewed and ran down LA Knight and Damian Priest, calling it “BS” that they were in the match. He addressed Fatu and said that when you’re all gas and no breaks, eventually you hit a brick wall.

Let’s Go Cena
R-Truth held a “Let’s Go Cena” sign backstage, awaiting Cena’s arrival while chanting for him. Jimmy Uso approached and told him that Cena sucked.

Aleister Returns to the Promo Closet
Aleister Black cut a promo from the dark closet he used to live in. He talked about being the “consequences that this company so desperately needs” and admitted he hadn’t quite figured Carmelo Hayes out—or has he?
Zelina Finds a Friend
Footage from earlier in the day showed Secret Hervice mourning Chelsea Green’s loss of the United States Championship in Nick Aldis’ office. Zelina Vega entered, and Green said that Vega had no friends. This led to Vega challenging Green and Piper Niven to a tag team match where she would bring her “non-existent” friend. This led to the big reveal of her partner being Alexa Bliss. The early portion of the match featured the heels beating down Vega and keeping Bliss from entering the match.
IT'S ALEXA BLISS!!!@AlexaBliss_WWE is @ZelinaVegaWWE's tag team partner tonight 🔥👏#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/D4trqXlSX3

Finally, after a commercial break, Bliss was tagged in and took it to Chelsea Green. Bliss then hit Twisted Bliss for a near fall after Piper Niven made the save. Vega then hit a Code Red and a Meteora onto Niven on the floor. Green then set up Bliss for the Unprettier, but Bliss reversed it into a Sister Abigail DDT for the win.
No More Conversations
Backstage, Santos Escobar approached Rey Fenix, and Fenix said there would be no more conversations as he beat him last week. Escobar asked, “Who said anything about conversation?” as Los Garza jumped Fenix and left him lying, as Andrade and officials went to check on him. At least for now, it appears that they are ignoring Los Garza’s tension with Escobar. It was then announced that Andrade & Fenix would face Los Garza later in the evening.
Return of the Queen
Charlotte Flair made her first appearance since losing to Tiffany Stratton at Wrestlemania. She said that her match against Stratton was one of the best women’s matches in history, and she took her to the limit. Charlotte then started yelling at the crowd for disrespecting her and claiming she is the greatest of all time. Flair then slammed the microphone down and stormed off.

Before she could get to the back, Jade Cargill’s music hit, and the two had a brief staredown in the entranceway. Jade got on the mic and told Charlotte that she had her chance and to head to the back of the line. After the commercial, Nick Aldis argued with Charlotte as she left, telling her to be a leader instead of throwing a temper tantrum. Charlotte went to get in her car, and Alexa Bliss appeared, saying, “Let’s chat”.

#1 Contender’s Match
The next match was between Jade Cargill and Nia Jax, with the winner going on to face Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. Just as the bell was about to ring, Stratton came out and took a seat at ringside. Jax took early control as the crowd chanted “You can’t wrestle” at her. After an ad break, Jade turned the tide and hit a Samoan Drop of her own on Jax, followed by a suplex and a spinebuster. Suddenly, Naomi appeared, attacking Tiffany Stratton on the outside. This distracted Jade, allowing Jax to take advantage, hitting Jade with the Annihilator for the win.

Michin Gets Left Hanging
Bacsktage, B-Fab and Michin congratulated The Street Profits on an incredible TLC match two weeks ago. The Profits said they heard B-Fab and Michin put everyone else on notice last week and were about to do the same thing tonight. As they walked off, Michin tried to high-five the Profits, but they left her hanging as they walked away.
The Street Profits, A Leg Up
The Street Profits came down to the ring, still selling the effects of the match two weeks ago, which they said was the greatest TLC match of all time. Montez Ford referred to the fact that they used a prosthetic leg in the match and that they “Had a leg up on the competition”, referring to Zach Gowen’s appearance on Collision on Thursday night. This brought out Fraxiom, who called the Profits quite possibly the best team right now. Fraxiom said they wanted a title shot, and the Profits were incredulous, saying it had only been three weeks for them on Smackdown. This brought out Nick Aldis, who made the match official, and it would start immediately.
Thank you, @RealNickAldis! 🙌

Both Profits grimaced in pain throughout, trying to fend off the upstarts in Fraxiom. The two teams went back and forth, with the announce team hammering home the Profits’ injuries, which were hampering their offense. The Profits hit their Super Doomsday Blockbuster for a significant near fall as Axiom barely broke up the pinfall attempt. Fraxiom hit their finisher combo Spanish Fly / Phoenix Splash before Montez Ford broke up the pin, returning the favor. Axiom hit the Golden Ratio on Angelo Dawkins out on the floor as Montez Ford missed a big splash from the top rope. Fraxiom then hit “Catapulta Infernal” to pick up the win over the Tag Team Champions. Afterwards, all four men raised their hands as Fraxiom was now in line for a title shot.
Fraxiom is taking control of this match! 👏#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/YbzmpzSn7m
— WWE (@WWE) May 10, 2025
Later backstage, Fraxiom ran into Motor City Machine Guns, who congratulated them. DIY then jumped both teams and yelled that they took advantage of two guys banged up from the TLC match.
The Loser’s Table
Tiffany Stratton was searching for Naomi backstage when she ran into Nia Jax, who said she should focus on her instead of Naomi. Stratton said she would save her a place at the loser’s table alongside Charlotte Flair.
Run the Play as Designed
Backstage, The Miz complained to Carmelo Hayes that he was out of position during last week’s match against Aleister Black. Miz said it was okay because Hayes would run the play as he designed it tonight. This led into the match between Hayes and Black. Black controlled the early portion of the match until Black seemed to tweak something after hitting a moonsault onto Hayes on the outside. The two men went back and forth, hitting impressive maneuvers on each other. Black then set Hayes up for the Black Mass, and Miz jumped onto the apron to interfere. Instead, Black ducked and Hayes nailed Miz, allowing Black to get the roll-up victory. Miz immediately ran into the ring and was met by the Black Mass himself.

Going For a Dog Walk
Backstage, Solo Sikoa was freaking out that they had no gameplan for Backlash tomorrow because everyone in their family was hurt. Fatu then screamed at Solo, saying he didn’t need a plan and would dogwalk everyone.

Andrade and Fenix
The main (wrestling) event of the evening was Andrade and Rey Fenix taking on Legado del Fantasma’s Los Garza. Before the match, Wade Barrett noted that he had done some research and Andrade and Fenix had competed before but never as a tag team. Fenix also had new theme music that came from Adam Jones of Tool fame.
Thanks to @AdamJones_tv of Tool, @ReyFenixMx's entrance music just got even more iconic! 🎸🎶#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/JFbeE3EoUs
— WWE (@WWE) May 10, 2025
Both teams showed their athletic prowess throughout the match but as Fenix and Andrade took control, Santos Escobar fumed on the outside. Escobar then distracted the referee but accidentally negated a pin attempt by Berto instead of the other way around. Fenix then hit the Adios Amigo and Andrade hit The Message for the win. Santos Escobar then berated Berto in the ring for losing and Berto finally slapped Escobar’s hand aaway and stormed off.

Tomorrow Your Childhood Dies
Joen Cena was out for the main event segment and did the bit where he made Mark Nash get into the ring and re-do his entrance to his liking. In the middle of it, someone in the crowd threw an (aluminum and empty) beer bottle at him and he stopped Nash and picked it up, shaking his head. Cena started off by saying “Tomorrow you childhood dies” and revealed that Randy Orton was not there tonight. He then said that him and Orton are the two names that defined “Ruthless Aggression” and that if you’re between the ages of “twelve to fifty-five and beyond you either choose Randy Orton or you choose John Cena”.
"Tomorrow your childhood dies."@JohnCena has quite the message for the WWE Universe ahead of #WWEBacklash… 😳#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/vLSiD2eu8v
— WWE (@WWE) May 10, 2025
Cena then went on to run Orton down and insulted him in various ways including him coasting by on his family name, not living up to his potential and not living up to his potential. Cena said tomorrow Orton will be just like his 2006 drug test: a failure.
.@JohnCena is NOT holding back… 😬#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/ettPquAegy
— WWE (@WWE) May 10, 2025
Suddenly, a masked figure tried to RKO Cena but Cena hit the AA instead. Then the actual Randy Orton appeared and RKO’ed John Cena. Orton posed with the WWE Championship to end the show, never revealing who took the AA for him. Hopefully he was paid well.
DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE VIPER! 🐍

Final Thoughts
Street Profits vs. Fraxiom was a lot of fun and certainly worth a watch, and Andrade/Fenix vs. Los Garza was entertaining, but other than that WWE presented another all-too-long Smackdown. Will we see a two-hour repreve in June? We shall see!
