A judge has ruled that former professional wrestler Billy Jack Haynes is unfit to stand trial later this year.

Haynes was charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the case involving the death of his wife, Janette Becraft.

Judge Angela Lucero in Multnomah County has ordered Haynes to be sent to the Oregon State Hospital and is “unfit to assist in his own defense.” There will be a hearing held next Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by KATU in Oregon.

The former WWF and Oregon-based star has been in custody in the Multnomah County Detention Center since February 2024.

Haynes’ trial is scheduled to begin in December 2025, but that will be contingent on the length of time he’s committed to the hospital, which could be anywhere from one to three years.

The ex-wrestler was the recent subject of an episode of Dark Side of the Ring, which included an interview conducted by the producers inside the prison where Haynes is being held.
