R-Truth took to social media on Sunday to state that he is parting ways with WWE.
In a post on X, the veteran wrote:
Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp later reported that Truth will be exiting the company when his current contract expires, making the departure a non-contract renewal rather than an in-contract release. Sapp stated that there is “disbelief” among many in the WWE roster at the development.
Truth, 53, real name Ron Killings, had two tenures with WWE. His first run was from 1999 to 2002 as K-Kwik, during which he held the WWF Hardcore Championship twice.
He then found success in TNA as Ron “The Truth” Killings, becoming a two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
R-Truth returned to WWE in 2008, initially in a more serious role. He captured the WWE United States Championship in 2010 and later formed a tag team with Kofi Kingston, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship in 2012.
In the latter part of his WWE career, R-Truth became a popular comedic character. He won the Mixed Match Challenge with Carmella in 2018 and had a second reign as United States Champion in 2019.
He also became strongly associated with the now-retired WWE 24/7 Championship, holding it 54 times.
On May 24th, Truth faced John Cena at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
