Kacy Catanzaro (formerly Katana Chance) ‘not sure’ if she wants to continue wrestling post-WWE run

What’s next for Kacy Catanzaro? The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion doesn’t know yet.

Catanzaro, who has spent the past few years wrestling under the stage name Katana Chance in WWE, has been assessing what’s next for her after being released by the promotion earlier this year.

Many who parted ways with the company recently, like Jakara Jackson and Shotzi, plan to continue wrestling beyond their WWE careers. For Catanzaro, the question of whether wrestling will remain part of her life isn’t too clear for her.

Catanzaro recently explained to Chris Van Vilet her thoughts and why only previously wrestling in WWE makes her situation different from others, who previously experienced the indies.

“That’s a good question, I’m not sure,” she said when asked if she plans to keep wrestling. “I’m gonna say I’m not sure because it could go either way. I feel like most people know right away. The second it [their WWE release] happens, they’re like ‘Ok, I’m doing this.’ I think part of it is because I didn’t wrestle beforehand, I never got those experiences [on the indies]. People who did are like, ‘Ok, I’m going to go back to that. I know that I want to do that.'”

35-year-old Catanzaro feels like her life has been fast, from college until now. One major opportunity has led directly into another, providing little time to reflect on her career moves. But now that she has been released by WWE, she’s had a chance to ask herself: “What does Kacy want to do?”

“For me, I feel like my whole adult life, I’ve always gone right from one challenge to the next,” she said. “I did gymnastics for four years, I had a scholarship, I couldn’t really do anything else. I was really locked in. Right after I graduated, I went to American Ninja Warrior for five years. I was in contracts with them, each season, which WWE took me right from there. I didn’t have any in between. I had to choose [American Ninja Warrior] to leave to go there. And so, eight years there, now I’m like, I’ve really never not been in a contract and thought ‘What does Kacy want to do?’ I think that takes more than a week or two.”
