Shane McMahon has dismissed speculation that his father, Vince McMahon, is planning to launch a new wrestling company.

Speaking with TMZ in Los Angeles this week, the 55-year-old addressed the recent rumors. “You never know what’s gonna happen out there, of course, and anything can happen in WWE,” he stated. “But those rumors are false. Those rumors are false.”

Shane also addressed his meeting with AEW President Tony Khan in 2024, but indicated he is not looking to join the promotion. “I had a meeting with AEW and wished them continued success,” McMahon said. “But it’s not WWE, it’s not the company I helped build. But you never know what’s gonna happen in this business.”

When asked about the possibility of his father attempting to “buy back” into WWE, Shane pointed to Vince’s remaining financial stake in TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company. “Well, he owns a big part of TKO still, so you never know what’s gonna happen there either,” he commented. “I’m not trying to be vague, I’m just saying anything can happen.”

According to reporting from Wrestlenomics, Vince McMahon holds approximately 6.4 million shares in TKO, which constitutes about 3.25% of the company following recent sales. Endeavor holds a controlling interest of over 60%.

The conversation concluded with a question about his father’s well-being. “He’s been doing really well,” Shane responded. “He’s enjoying life, getting a little bit of a rest in there. But if you know my dad, he’s always gung-ho and he’s always doing the next thing, and that’s what he’s focused on.”

The TMZ reporter’s questions came as his father is launching a new business. As reported by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, Vince McMahon, 79, has established a new private investment firm named 14TH & I, which will focus on the sports, media, and entertainment sectors.

Vince McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman in January 2024 following a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant. The lawsuit accuses McMahon of sexual assault, trafficking, and emotional abuse. Grant alleges that McMahon coerced her into a sexual relationship and trafficked her to others. McMahon has denied the allegations.
