Shotzi Blackheart is open to the idea of becoming an AEW wrestler, but doesn’t want the signing to come just because of what she has done in the past as a WWE talent.
Instead, she hopes that a busy run on the independent scene this year could “earn” her a spot in the future.
Still recently removed from her WWE release, Blackheart has booked up a busy few months on the indies. The “Ballsy Badass” made her in-ring return last weekend, appearing in her old pre-WWE stomping grounds, Hoodslam, then was a surprise entrant in the GCW Tournament of Survival X deathmatch series.
Blackheart told The Ariel Helwani Show she’s “pretty much” booked on every weekend for the rest of 2025, staying active after a slow end to her time in the WWE. It was revealed recently that she has been added to nine more GCW cards, a F1RST Wrestling event, and Maple Leaf Pro’s upcoming show in Quebec.

Game for anything, including a potential AEW run, Blackheart hopes her upcoming appearances can prove why she’s worthy of a spot on their roster.
“I wouldn’t want to go to AEW just because I was signed with WWE and I expect them to sign me,” she told The Ariel Helwani Show. “I want to earn my spot, that’s why I want to kill it on the indies, and if they really love what I’m doing for the rest of the year, I’m game.”
If she were to sign with AEW, there are a few feuds she would love to have. Along with facing off against TBS Champion Mercedes Moné and AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm, Blackheart likes the idea of battling against Athena.
“First thing that comes to mind, Athena,” she said, when asked about dream feuds in the promotion. “I think that she’s so awesome. I honestly think that she’s the best women’s wrestler in the world. I am such a huge fan of her, not even just because we tagged together and I had so much fun with her as a tag team, but I just think she’s amazing. And I’ve never gotten to wrestle her before, so I’d love that.”
At the end of the day, Blackheart is open to anything, even a WWE return: “I would love to be back at WWE, I loved working there. I didn’t love not working there. It was only when I wasn’t being used that I was unhappy.”
