This weekend’s trilogy bout between El Hijo del Vikingo and Alberto El Patron won’t just be a normal bout.
The third meeting between the two for the AAA Mega Championship this weekend will be held inside a steel cage, AAA Lucha Libre announced on Wednesday.
The special stip was added to the main event of Triplemania Regia at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, this Sunday.
A promo was filmed by El Patron late last night, formally requesting that his upcoming title match take place within a cage. It was announced hours later that the stipulation was confirmed.

El Patron and Vikingo have met twice in AAA Mega Championship bouts this year. Their initial matchup, a 23-minute clash at Rey De Reyes, saw El Patron retain. Last month, Vikingo won the title in a 17-minute contest, allowing him to wager the belt last weekend against Chad Gable at WWE x AAA Worlds Collide.
A tiebreaker between the two will go down this weekend as the headliner for one of AAA’s top shows of the year.
