  2. Angel & Berto def. Forastero & Sanson, Pagano & Psycho Clown, Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth (AAA World Tag Team Championships) (Four-Way)
  3. El Hijo del Vikingo def. Alberto El Patron (AAA Mega Championship) (Steel Cage)

After countless run-ins, numerous weapons being utilized and a memorable spot off the top of a steel cage, El Hijo del Vikingo walked away a winner in his trilogy match against Alberto El Patron.

Vikingo escaped the steel cage to defeat El Patron on Sunday night, retaining his AAA Mega Championship in the main event of Triplemania Regia in Monterrey, Mexico.

To say the headlining bout was hectic would be selling it short. Countless names came to ringside throughout the match, with both wrestlers being represented by numerous run-ins.

El Patron received help from Mesias, JBL, and El Hijo de Dos Caras. Tactics from El Patron and company were shut down by Octagon Jr., Laredo Kid, Nino Hamburguesa, and, in a big reveal that was made during the match, Latin Lover.

It was established earlier on the show that Latin Lover wasn’t at the event. However, amid the main event match, a video showed him pulling up to the event backstage before he emerged onstage.

The final sequence of the match saw Latin Lover handcuff El Patron to the ring ropes, allowing Vikingo to scale the cage and escape for the win. While this finish made sense in theory, it didn’t entirely go to plan, as El Patron’s handcuff broke while Vikingo was escaping the cage, somewhat defeating the purpose of the finish.

There were many other props utilized before the end, too. A fire extinguisher was used on both wrestlers, stopping them from climbing the cage. A kendo stick also came into play early, introduced by Mesias.

And, in one of the more memorable spots of the match, both Vikingo and El Patron went flying off the cage and through a table.

Vikingo’s trilogy match win came much to the displeasure of a Monterrey crowd who wanted to see a new champ crowned.

The first meeting between the two took place in March, when El Patron defended his title in a 23-minute singles match. The belt changed hands when they faced off last month, giving Vikingo the title just before he appeared at the WWE co-promoted Worlds Collide event in a championship bout against Chad Gable.

This weekend’s match was held inside a cage at the request of El Patron, as announced earlier this week. While his stipulation of choice was used and numerous allies came to help him, a third reign for him as the Mega Champion didn’t emerge.

The co-main event of the night saw WWE’s Los Garza duo of Angel and Berto win the AAA World Tag Team Championships in a four-way, ending the title reign of Forastero and Sanson.

Both from Monterrey, Angel and Berto were the stars of the match from start to finish. After the Nemeths pulled a ref from the ring, costing Psycho Clown the chance of winning after scoring a Spanish Fly off the top and through a table, Los Garza were able to hit Forastero with their double-team finisher for the pinfall win.

While Angel and Berto have a history of winning titles together, Sunday marked their first reign as a duo since joining the WWE roster.

The first televised match of the evening saw Moose retain his TNA X-Division Championship in a four-way against Joe Hendry, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., and El Mesias.

Moose capitalized on a cheap move from Mesias, who gave Dr. Wagner Jr. a low blow in the closing moments of the match. After throwing Mesias out of the ring, Moose gave Dr. Wagner Jr. a spear for a pinfall win. TNA President Carlos Silva came into the ring to raise Moose’s hand afterward.

In a taped match which took place before the live portion of the night, Mr. Iguana picked up a six-man tag pinfall win alongside El Fiscal and Nino Hamburguesa against the Tokyo Bad Boys (Kento, Nobu San and Takuma). Mr. Iguana, who was the most popular name to come out of the Worlds Collide card from last weekend, received a loud reaction throughout the match.

It was also announced during the event that WWE will present a pair of house shows in Mexico next month, visiting Arena CDMX in Mexico City on July 26, then hitting up Arena Monterrey on July 27. The poster for the shows included Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Seth Rollins, Penta, Stephanie Vaquer, and IYO SKY.
