Los Garza officially have gold.
The WWE duo of Angel and Berto won the AAA World Tag Team Championships on Sunday night, prevailing in a four-way tag match at Triplemania Regia in Monterrey, Mexico.
Los Garza scored their double-team finisher onto Forastero – one half of Nueva Generacion Dinamita alongside Sanson – to win via pinfall and put an end to the team’s 86-day reign as champs in AAA.
Also vying for the titles in the four-way were the team of Pagano & Psycho Clown, as well as TNA’s Nic and Ryan Nemeth.
Both from Monterrey, Los Garza had much bigger support from the live crowd than any other team in the match, even though other fan favorites had earned solid reactions as well.
Psycho Clown came close to a finish near the end of the bout, giving Forastero a Spanish Fly off the top and through a makeshift table in the ring consisting of a wooden board and four chairs. However, upon attempting a follow-up pin, the attempt was stopped due to a Nemeth brother pulling the referee from the ring.
Berto and Angel, who are a duo within the larger Legado del Fantasma faction, hadn’t won titles together since their pre-WWE days prior to this weekend.
