New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced the majority of the competitors for the 2025 G1 Climax tournament.

The names of 16 participants were unveiled on Sunday, with four more to be determined through qualifying matches.

The tournament will begin on July 19 and run until August 17.

The field for the punishing tournament includes Hiroshi Tanahashi, who will be competing in the G1 for the final time. He retires in January 2026.

Konosuke Takeshita, whose contract allows him to wrestle for AEW, NJPW and DDT, is also taking part.

The final four spots will be determined through play-in qualifier matches to take place on June 23 in Korakuen Hall and July 4 in Tokyo Budokan. Entrants in those matches are not yet known.
