NJPW has revealed the eight participants who will be vying for the final spots in the G1 Climax.
During the Dominion broadcast, the members of the A & B Blocks were revealed with two open spots in each block. A series of matches to determine who will qualify for the open slots will take place on June 23 at Korakuen Hall and July 4 at Tokyo Budokan.
The first set of matches on June 23 will see Callum Newman take on Taichi, and Tomohiro Ishii faces Drilla Moloney. Moloney beat Ishii in the opening round of the New Japan Cup but won a rematch at Resurgence last month.
On July 4, the returning Don Fale (formerly Bad Luck Fale) takes on Ryohei Oiwa, and YOSHI-HASHI will face Chase Owens. On Sunday’s show, Fale returned as the mystery member of the House of Torture and was followed by Owens turning on the War Dogs and aligning with the House of Torture.
Fale has not participated in a G1 since 2022, while YOSHI-HASHI, Ishii, Owens, and Taichi missed last year’s tournament.
NJPW has also announced that the top three members of each block will advance to the playoff stage of the G1. The winners of each block will receive a bye, with the second and third place finishers facing off on August 14. The semi-finals are on August 16 and the finals are on August 17, with the final two nights at Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
