El Ahorcado Está En México

The show begins with ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, who speaks Spanish to introduce himself in Mexico, as Excalibur does his best to translate. Page talks about his youth, growing up on a farm. Unfortunately, Excalibur is trying to translate at the same time Page is talking, and it’s hard for me to catch everything. Page says it’s great to be performing in their house tonight, and thanks them for this collaboration between AEW & CMLL, as they have the best wrestling in the world. Page moves on to talk about Jon Moxley, and not being allowed to be in the arena during tonight’s main event, but nobody said anything about after the match.

Dax Harwood, Volador Jr. & The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, Hechicero, Josh Alexander & Lance Archer) (w/ Stokely) vs. Bandido, Atlantis Jr., Templario, Atlantis, Brody King, Daniel Garcia & Adam Cole

Stokely comes out with Dax Harwood and says that due to unforeseen circumstances, Cash Wheeler is unable to be here tonight, as this match has now expanded from a 12-man tag to a 14-man tag. Excalibur explains that even though Atlantis is a beloved luchador here, his son isn’t so much, as he gets a negative reaction upon entering. Bandido & Konosuke Takeshita start, as Bandido gets a great reaction coming off his return to CMLL last night, defending the ROH World Championship against Mascara Dorada. With the amount of competitors in this match, most of them stand on the outside during it instead of being on the apron. Templario & Volador Jr. go at it to a great reaction from this excited crowd, with Templario sending Volador to the outside where he hits him with a beautiful Sasuke Special. After taking out Adam Cole to the outside, Kyle Fletcher and Atlantis go at it with Fletcher getting a better reaction, especially with Atlantis Jr. getting involved. The baby faces all start taking turns on Fletcher, sending him to the outside as we head to break.

We return to see Bandido trying a frog splash, but Josh Alexander runs up the ropes to take him out with a belly-to-belly suplex for a two-count. Everybody gets in on the action, including the baby faces hitting the ten punches in the corners, before they hit topes to the outside as some of the competitors start fighting to the back. Brody King & Lance Archer start having a meat-off, but Hechicero joins in and takes out Brody with a top-rope crossbody as the crowd is fully behind the rudo. Brody follows with a tope suicida to the outside on Takeshita & Hechicero, before Atlantis & Dax Harwood start going at it, with the crowd being behind Harwood until Atlantis rolls him up and gets the surprise pin out of nowhere.

Winners: Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Bandido, Templario, Brody King, Daniel Garcia & Adam Cole by pinfall at 15:47

Harwood continues attacking Atlantis until they get separated.

Mark Briscoe vs. Kazuchika Okada

We get a video from Mark Briscoe before the match, talking about his history with Kenny Omega and saying he has his back, as we see footage from them dating back to the early days of Ring of Honor. Don Callis, who was nowhere to be seen in the opener, comes out with Kazuchika Okada before joining commentary. Right away, Briscoe sends Okada to the outside, but Okada dodges a dive and lures Briscoe to the outside before attacking him upon re-entry. Okada tries his best to avoid the Red Neck Kung Fu, but gets taken down by a kick from Briscoe. Briscoe takes out Okada on the outside, but Okada comes back with a dropkick to Briscoe from the corner, sending him to the outside as we head to break.

They come back, as Briscoe is still using his Kung Fu to keep Okada in the corner, but he’s able to catch him into a neckbreaker, followed by a top rope elbow drop. Okada puts his middle finger up, just for Briscoe to take a bite out of it before hitting him with a suplex. Briscoe heads to the top and hits the Froggy Bow, but Okada kicks out at two. Okada comes back with a Tombstone piledriver, followed by the Rainmaker to pick up the pin and the win.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada by pinfall at 13:31

Okada & Don Callis keep attacking Briscoe after, as the crowd chants for Kenny Omega.

MJF (w/ Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin & MVP) vs. Mistico

Mistico gets a huge reaction as expected, especially with his familiar CMLL theme song that the crowd all sings along to. MJF, in his red, white, and blue gear, as the rest of The Hurt Syndicate shields him before the match. Mistico goes for a pin attempt almost right away, but MJF escapes to the outside and dodges a dive attempt from Mistico. Mistico follows him to the outside, but The Hurt Syndicate shields MJF, who sneaks in and takes out Mistico with a cheap shot. Mistico takes over in the ring, as MJF cowers in the corner before luring Mistico in as he stomps him out, goes to the other corner and ‘pledges allegiance’. MJF counters a Code Red into a powerbomb into the knee for a two-count as we head to commercial.

We see during the break, The Hurt Syndicate got involved, but despite this, Mistico gains control and takes out MJF with a DDT, sending him to the outside. Mistico follows with a Senton Atomico, and heads to the top rope, but MJF dodges him just to get hit with a power slam, as Mistico gets a two. They go back-and-forth for a bit, until MJF teases leaving the match and heading to the back, just for Mistico to run up there to him, and get caught in a Tombstone onto the ramp. MJF drags Bryce Remsburg back into the ring and forces him to start making the count, but Mistico gets up and enters the ring. As Mistico hits La Mistica and MJF starts tapping out, MVP enters the ring and distracts Remsburg as MJF hits a low blow on Mistico, but only gets a two. MJF then hits another low blow, right in front of Remsburg, causing the disqualification.

Winner: Mistico by disqualification at 16:49

MJF pushes Remsburg down, as the rest of The Hurt Syndicate join in on attacking Mistico. MJF then takes off the mask of Mistico, gets on the top rope, and puts it on himself. Bandido, Templario & Titan make their way down, distracting The Hurt Syndicate as Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey show up from behind and take them out with top rope dropkicks. Templario hands Mistico another mask that he puts on.

4 Million Pesos High Flying Four Way: Ricochet vs. Hologram vs. Lio Rush vs. Mascara Dorada

Lio Rush comes out wearing a mask, but takes it off before the match starts. Mascara Dorada gets the biggest reaction out of the four (Sii-note: I was able to watch Tuesday’s joint CMLL/AEW/ROH show, and after Bandido defeated Dorada, he said he would talk to Tony Khan about getting Dorada in AEW, which got booes from the crowd, showing their loyalty to Dorada and wanting him to stay in CMLL.) The AEW heels Lio Rush & Ricochet start the match by teaming up and sending the luchadors to the outside, but as they tease hitting dives, they get stopped by Hologram & Dorada, with the luchadores hitting some mind-bending moves together before they go face-to-face. Before they go at it, they head outside but get stopped and sent into the barricades by Rush & Ricochet. Hologram tries to springboard back in, but gets stopped with a beautiful dropkick by Ricochet, who then hits a Fosbury Flop to Dorada on the outside, as Rush hits Hologram with a moonsault as we head to break.

As we come back, Rush & Ricochet start getting into a shoving match, allowing Dorada to take them both out with hurricanranas. Hologram joins in, as Dorada sends Ricochet to the outside with a Destroyer. Hologram & Dorada tease going after each other, before they both hit dives to the outside on Rush & Ricochet. Dorada & Hologram do eventually go at it, with Hologram hitting a DDT for a two, but Dorada comes right back with a Crucifix Bomb. Rush & Ricochet break this up with Ricochet hitting a vicious leaping stomp on Dorada before he gets stopped by a poison rana from Rush, before Rush hits one on Hologram. Rush tries one on Dorada, but he escapes multiple attempts before Rush leaps off the second rope and hits it for a two. Ricochet takes out Rush, heads to the top rope, but Rush joins him and tries a hurricanrana, but Hologram stops it. Hologram follows with the Portal Bomb on Rush to pick up the win.

Winner: Hologram by pinfall at 15:47

CMLL World Women’s Championship: Zeuxis (c) vs. Mercedes Mone

Zeuxis starts the match by rag-dolling Mercedes Mone around the ring and taking her out with knees in the corner for a two. (Sii-note: This is a rematch of their first encounter, almost a year to the day, on an episode of Dynamite in June 2024.) Zeuxis catches Mercedes off the ropes and into a lungblower for a two-count. Mercedes traps on The Statement Maker, but Zeuxis rolls to the outside, where they fight on the apron. Zeuxis takes out Mercedes with a nasty-looking tope as we head to break.

When we come back, Zeuxis stays in control with a Spanish Fly for a two, but Mercedes comes back with a backstabber and puts on The Statement Maker yet again, that Zeuxis powers out of and hits a modified pump-handle slam for two. They head to the corner, where Mercedes hits a headbutt and a top rope power slam to pick up the pin and the win.

Winner: Mercedes Mone by pinfall at 9:20, to become NEW CMLL World Women’s Champion

After the match, Mercedes’ celebration gets interrupted by a noir-style video from Toni Storm. As it ends, we see Mina Shirakawa on the ramp distracting Mercedes as Storm appears from behind in her best Carmen Sandiego cosplay as she takes out Mercedes with a German suplex, making Mercedes’ six titles go flying everywhere. They keep brawling, but Mercedes escapes a Storm Zero attempt, before Storm gets on the mic and says, ‘Let the games begin.

Will Ospreay, The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs) & Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. The Beast Mortos, Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta & Jon Moxley) & The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) (w/ Marina Shafir)

The Beast Mortos is replacing Claudio Castagnoli, who Excalibur says had travel issues, making him miss the show. (Sii-note: This is the first match for Mortos in Arena Mexico in 14 years.) Will Ospreay, who has a bandage on his head, asks to start the match with Matthew Jackson, but Matthew immediately tags out to Mortos. The babyfaces quickly take control and start working over Wheeler Yuta, with Ospreay & Swerve Strickland double-teaming on him. Swerve tags out to Samoa Joe, who gets a huge reaction here in Mexico. Jon Moxley gets the tag as he and Joe start trading blows and kicks before Joe traps on the Coquina Clutch, causing the other 8 competitors to get involved and break it up. Ospreay hits a top rope Sky Twister Press to everyone on the outside to a huge reaction, as we head to break.

When we come back, Ospreay makes the hot tag to Powerhouse Hobbs, who destroys Yuta in the corner with clotheslines before taking him down with a short-armed lariat. As he goes to hit the spinebuster, he gets stopped by The Young Bucks, which only angers Hobbs, but this doesn’t last long as Yuta & Moxley get involved, before Hobbs takes all four of them down with clotheslines. Katsuyori Shibata joins Hobbs in attacking Yuta, before Mortos enters and takes down Shibata with a hard shot. Joe & Mortos start exchanging blows, before the Bucks enter and take out Joe. As they try to hit Ospreay with an EVP Trigger, he reverses it into a double Os Cutter, sending them to the outside, where Swerve hits them with dives. Shibata & Yuta go at it before Swerve & Moxley get tagged in and go at it. Ospreay joins in as they hit him with a superkick/brainbuster combo. Marina Shafir distracts the referee before Moxley rolls up Swerve and holds onto the tights for the win.

Winners: Death Riders (Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta), The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) & The Beast Mortos by pinfall at 16:13

The heels keep attacking after, until ‘Hangman’ Adam Page makes his way out and starts brawling with Moxley. Yuta tries to get involved, but as Page tries a Buckshot Lariat, Moxley ducks as Matthew Jackson gets it instead. Nicholas tries to question what Page did, as Moxley tries to attack Page from behind with his briefcase, but the baby faces all back up Page as Moxley and the heels cower to the back. Page walks past The Young Bucks to go after Moxley in the back, before having a staredown with the Bucks.
