Eric Young uses numbers advantage to overcome Sami Callihan
This week’s episode of TNA Impact, which took place at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona, opened with a recap of some of the top moments from the prior Thursday. Among the highlights: A backstage attack by Eric Young set up a match against Sami Callihan, and a brawl after the main event previewed tonight’s Champion’s Challenge tag bout.
Speaking of that grudge match between Eric Young and Sami Callihan, that’s what started things off in the ring this week.
Fired up from getting attacked last week, Callihan jumped Young before he got in the ring. He attempted to use a steel chair (which was legal since the match hadn’t officially started by this point), but Young was able to prevent the attack.
Callihan was at a disadvantage throughout this match, as Judas Icarus and Travis Williams of the Northern Armory were at ringside, and were quick to jump Callihan whenever the referee was distracted.
A frustrated Young, who notably attacked a “fan” a couple of weeks ago, threatened to hurt the referee or others in the crowd after getting a two-count from a pin attempt. Callihan came close to a win by grabbing the crotch of Young, then scoring with a stunner for a near fall after the heel got back into the ring.
Callihan tried for a piledriver, but the Northern Armory got into the ring to stop this move. As the referee wasn’t looking, Icarus struck Callihan in the body with a steel chair. This set Young up to hit a piledriver, earning him a pinfall win.

Backstage, the All-Star side of tonight’s Champion’s Challenge match was interviewed. The main rivalries heading into that match were outlined here: Joe Hendry and Elijah were focused specifically on fighting Trick Williams. Leon Slater wanted a piece of Moose. The Rascalz wanted The Nemeths. They all were indifferent to Steve Maclin, but said they’ll kick his ass too.
Issues within Order Four continue
Order Four came together for a meeting in the next segment. This group has been embattled as of late, struggling to be on the same page, so much that leader Mustafa Ali had to face off with Jason Hotch at Against All Odds earlier this month.
Ali ordered Tasha Steelz, Hotch and John Skyler to stay on the ring apron during the meeting. Ali said he would do an evaluation of each staffer in this segment.
He first called in Steelz, who he said has done an awful job both inside and out of the ring. He also warned Steelz to stop talking to “Him” – this unknown caller has been referenced in recent episodes but never specified further. Ali forced Steelz to apologize for lying about not talking to “Him” before she was asked to leave the ring.
Next was Hotch, who, notably we learned earlier today has signed a new TNA deal. Ali asked “idiot” Hotch why he stood up to him recently. “When you laid your hands on Tasha Steelz, my wife and my daughter were in the stands watching, so what were you expecting me to do,” he said. Ali replied: “Who pays the mortgage where your beautiful wife sleeps … It’s me.”
Ali begged Hotch for an apology on behalf of his wife and his daughter… This is cruel, demeaning stuff. Hotch was holding back anger, but he apologized.
Finally, Skyler was in the ring. As Ali was beginning to talk, Skyler snatched the microphone out of his hand. Skyler turned the tables and started criticizing Ali. “You need to start following your own advice. Because there’s no order here, only chaos.” He said Ali was acting like a “jackass” and needs to stop the faction from being “Order One.”
Ali didn’t let any of the feedback shake him. “I will not tolerate weakness. And right now, what I’m looking at is the weakest link in Order Four. Skyler, you need to apologize.”
Ali wanted to make an example of Skyler, asking him to get on his hands and knees for the apology. Skyler was about to go down, but then he snatched the mic and shouted, “No!”
Ali shoved Skyler. Skyler shoved Ali even harder, causing him to fall and roll out of the ring. Enraged, Ali said that Skyler will face him next week in a “Call to Arms” match.

A vignette from Killer Kelly explained how Masha Slamovich betrayed her months back, and she’ll soon get revenge by taking her Knockouts World Championship. Kelly won a #1 contenders match last week to earn a shot against Slamovich.
Killer Kelly costs Masha Slamovich a tag win
The next match saw women’s tag champs Ash and Heather By Elegance take on Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich and Lei Ying Lee.
There was a lot of talking in this match before the actual wrestling started. Ash and Heather were intimidated and didn’t want to wrestle Lee. Ash got jumped by Lee and Slamovich after the Elegance Brand wrestler attempted to communicate via Google Translate.
Similar to the opening contest of the night, the heel team had an advantage due to simply having support at ringside. M By Elegance as well as The Personal Concierge, used some dirty tactics, helping Ash and Heather stay in the match.
A hot tag from Lee was long teased during this match, eventually getting Slamovich in against Ash. Slamovich had to battle against both Elegance brand wrestlers, as they were both in the ring at the same time. Lee eventually got back into action, throwing Heather out of the ring and following her to ringside to keep brawling.
Heather tossed glitter in the eyes of Lee, then threw her into a ringpost. Ash watched this sequence while going up the ropes, slowing her climb. Slamovich met Ash at the top, but had what she attempted to do stopped – Killer Kelly appeared on the ring apron, which caught Slamovich’s attention.
Ash pushed Slamovich off the top, then connected with a Swanton Bomb for the win. While it came via distraction, Ash earned a pin over TNA’s top women’s talent.
The IInspiration were seen watching the match backstage and put out a warning to the Elegance brand wrestlers, as they want the tag titles next.
During the weekly TNA “Injury Report,” which often includes a mix of gimmicked and real injuries, it was noted that KC Navarro suffered a dislocated left knee during his tag appearance on last week’s episode. He was limping after delivering a tope suicida during the match and wasn’t seen in the segment afterward. Earlier this week on NXT, it was mentioned that Navarro wasn’t medically cleared to compete yet.
Jake Something returns to TNA, sets sights on Mance Warner
TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella came to the ring with some announcements. First, he unveiled that Mike Santana will make his return next week in a street fight against AJ Francis.
Marella then brought out Tommy Dreamer, who got in a bit of a dust-up with Mance Warner on last week’s episode. Marella said that Dreamer can get a match against Warner whenever he wants it. Right after he said that, Warner himself came down the ramp alongside Steph De Lander.
Dreamer admitted that he’s on the “back-end” of his career. “You need to understand: There’s always a bigger picture, and it’s always about something else.”
Right after Dreamer said this, Jake Something appeared on the stage. He made his way to the ring, where he exchanged blows with Warner. Something sent Warner retreating after a shoulder tackle, ending the segment.

Something has been out of the TNA ring since January, when a torn biceps forced him out of action. He underwent surgery for the setback in February and continued to remain inactive until last month, when he appeared at an AAW card. It now looks like his in-ring return on TNA is right around the corner.
Backstage, Indi Hartwell confronted Tessa Blanchard about striking her during a tag match last week. Blanchard seemed pretty dismissive about the moment, but Hartwell wasn’t going to let it slide.
A recap of the X-Division match from last weekend’s AAA Triplemania Regia played next.
Matt Cardona earns win with help from masked ‘Home Town’ man
The System’s Eddie Edwards and JDC faced off against Matt Cardona and a teammate of his choosing in the next bout. Who did Cardona pick as his partner? “The Home Town Man.”
Dressed in a Phoenix Suns jersey, a poorly-disguised Cody Deaner billed as “The Home Town Man” made his way to the ring. This Deaner alter-ego debuted at Against All Odds and is once again back for this tag bout.
Edwards, being the heel that he is, tried to rip the mask off the Home Town Man and show his true identity. But the Home Town Man capitalized on this moment, getting a roll-up pin for the win in a somewhat quick match.

The System jumped Cardona and Home Town Man after the match. They’re continuing to tease a tension between Brian Myers and Cardona, with Myers refusing to tough him during the beatdown.
A preview of upcoming matches on NXT and Impact
Before the main event, we were shown a clip from this week’s NXT, where Yoshiki Inamura scored a pinfall win against TNA Champion Trick Williams. Inamura gave up a title shot to partner Josh Briggs, who will take on Williams at Tuesday’s NXT.
A video package provided a rundown of next week’s episode of Impact:
- Matt & Jeff Hardy vs. Judas Icarus & Travis Williams
- Battle Royal to determine contender for the TNA Knockouts World Championship (Presumably #1 contender after Killer Kelly gets the title shot she earned in last week’s #1 contenders match)
- Mustafa Ali vs. John Skyler (Call to Arms Match)
- Joe Hendry to appear
- Mike Santana vs. AJ Francis (Street Fight)
All-star team earns win in Champions Challenge
The Champions Challenge closed out this week’s episode of Impact. World champ Trick Williams, X-Division champ Moose, International champ Steve Maclin, and tag champs Nic and Ryan Nemeth faced Elijah, Joe Hendry, Leon Slater, and Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz in a 10-man tag bout. Frankie Kazarian was on commentary during this match.
Maclin had trouble meshing with his heel tag partners throughout the bout. He tagged out early in the contest by chopping Ryan Nemeth, then throwing him over the top rope and onto the mat. Tension with other partners continued throughout the match, refusing to take tags from others at points.
There was an extended sequence between Moose and Slater, who will face off in an X-Division title match at Slammiversary. With help from the Nemeths, who distracted Slater, Moose was able to stop the babyface talent’s hot tag moment in the ring.
Slater was isolated in the ring for minutes by the champions side of the bout. After getting a suplex onto Moose, Slater was able to tag Hendry into the match, who hadn’t gotten into the ring by that point. However, since the referee was busy watching the Nemeths on the other side of the ring, she didn’t see the tag. Slater had to build back up yet another tag.
Slater had another battle with Moose, where the current X-Division champ turned him inside out with a hard lariat. Moose tried for a follow-up move, but Slater reversed it into a DDT. Maclin started shoving Ryan while on the mat, causing Nic to take him out.
Hendry officially tagged into the match. After taking out Nic and Ryan, he had a face-to-face with Williams. TNA champ Williams came running off the ropes with a move, but Hendry caught him for a back bodydrop.
Hendry tried for a Standing Ovation onto Nic Nemeth, but was stopped by Ryan. After taking out both Nic and Ryan with a clothesline, Hendry tagged in Elijah.
Ryan came off the top but ate a hard knee to the head from Elijah on the way down for a near fall. After a quick sequence of other wrestlers in the match getting a quick spot in, focus went back to the legal wrestlers. As the referee was distracted, Ryan attempted to use the TNA International Championship as a weapon. But Maclin snatched his title from Ryan’s hands, preventing the dirty tactic.

Hendry came into the ring to give Ryan a Standing Ovation, then tossed him Elijah for a Tombstone Piledriver to win the match. The all-star side of the Champions Challenge stood tall as the show came to a close.
