AEW’s Grand Slam Mexico was a big success as the show drew the program’s largest audience of the year.
The two-and-a-half-hour special from Arena México on Wednesday averaged 736,000 viewers and 286,000 viewers (0.21) on TBS as it ranked sixth among prime-time programming on cable for the night.
It was Dynamite’s largest audience since July 23, 2024, which featured Blood & Guts, and the show’s highest number in the 18-49 demographic since November 13.
It’s important to note that this week’s figures don’t include the viewership on Max, and the overall numbers could exceed the audiences listed from 2024 when the show was not simulcast.
If you don’t include the final thirty-seven minutes of the show, the show averaged 763,000 viewers and 0.22 from 8 – 10 p.m. ET.
Dynamite grew by 23 percent in overall viewership from the 8-10 p.m. ET portion of Summer Blockbuster last week and increased by 28 percent in the core demo.
The big audience increase was among females, which increased from 71,000 viewers to 123,000 in the 18-49 demo this week and grew from 40,000 to 72,000 among the 35-49 demo.
Adults 18-34 grew by nine percent over last week, and 35-49 was up by 38 percent.
Wrestlenomics reports the peak quarter for overall viewership was from 9 – 9:15 p.m. ET for Mistico vs/. MJF. The peak for the 18-49 audience was between 8:30 – 8:45 p.m. during the 14-man tag and the start of Kazuchika Okada vs. Mark Briscoe. The low point was the final seven minutes of the show, which fell to 589,000 viewers and 226,000 in the demo.
Cable programming was led by the College World Series as the LSU vs. Arkansas game averaged 1,911,000 viewers and 0.49 in 18-49 on ESPN.
