Opening segment confirms two more matches for Slammiversary
This week’s episode of TNA iMPACT opened with a recap of last week’s top headlines: Cedric Alexander made his TNA debut to confront Mustafa Ali, Joe Hendry set his sights on a world title fight against Trick Williams, and Mike Santana called for a spot in the Slammiversary main event after beating AJ Francis in a street fight.
Commentary made note that Santino Marella confirmed earlier this week that Santana would face Hendry and Williams at Slammiversary in a triple threat.
The Knockouts division was in action first, as The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay) faced off against Tessa Blanchard and Victoria Crawford. This was The IInspiration’s second match since returning to TNA recently. Indi Hartwell was at ringside on commentary for the match.
A video played before the match showing The IInspiration and the Elegance Brand faction getting into a brawl during a meet and greet. It was also shown that the Elegance brand, who currently holds the Knockouts tag titles, was watching backstage.
Blanchard was tossed to the ringside by McKay near the end of the match, causing her to get into a face-off with Hartwell. This distraction resulted in Crawford getting picked on in a two-on-one situation in the ring, where The IInspiration hit their Idolizer double-team finisher for the win.

Sparks started to fly between Hartwell and Blanchard after the match. The duo started to brawl, forcing security to pull them apart. Hartwell then issued a challenge: “It’s gonna be you and me at Slammiversary.”
After a break, that bout was confirmed for Slammiversary on July 20, as was a tag title match between the Elegance Brand and The IInspiration.
Mustafa Ali, Cedric Alexander set for Wrestlemania 34 rematch
Tasha Steelz, who has been in the middle of the drama inside Order Four in recent weeks, came to the ring alongside Jason Hotch and John Skyler for the next segment. Last week, Cedric Alexander made the save to stop a beatdown on them from Mustafa Ali, the leader of Order Four.
Steelz confirmed that she was the one who made the call for Alexander to arrive and help them. She then asked for Alexander and Ali to come to the ring for a chat.
“We all know that this obsessive, angry, bitter person that I’m staring at right now is not the Ali that we all know,” Alexander said. “Do you remember 205 Live? We were the heart and soul of that division.”
Alexander said he’s here to help, but his talk didn’t get through to Ali.
“I don’t want your goddamn help,” Ali replied. He went on to say that Alexander took everything away from him by taking his WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Wrestlemania 34.
Ali called for a rematch from between them.
“If you wanna get hostile, I will gladly beat your ass again and show you what’s up,” Alexander said.
Ali tried to attack Alexander, but was sent retreating after taking a right hand. Alexander and The Great Hands took out Ali’s security – Alexander notably hit his Lumbar Check on one of them.
If @CedricAlexander can’t talk sense into @MustafaAli_X… he’ll beat it out of him at #TNASlammiversary!#TNAiMPACT

Masha Slamovich overcomes former tag partner to retain title
The sole title fight of the night was up next, with Killer Kelly taking on former tag partner Masha Slamovich for the TNA Knockouts World Championship. Kelly earned this shot after winning an 8-4-1 #1 contenders bout on a recent episode of Impact.
The title bout was under a special Chain Match stipulation, chaining each other together on the wrist for the entirety of the fight (similar to a dog collar match).
Slamovich was quick to utilize the chain, tying it around Kelly’s head before throwing her to the mat in the opening minute. Slamovich climbed to the top rope for a move but was thrown off by Kelly, causing her to take a huge fall to the outside. Kelly used the chain to choke Slamovich around the ringpost outside the ring. They went back into the ring as the show went to a break.
Slamovich started to get back in the match after the show returned, getting Kelly down with a series of clotheslines. Kelly left the ring but was tossed stomach-first into the ring apron by Slamovich, who was pulling on the chain. Slamovich then used the chain to throw Kelly into the ringpost face-first.
Slamovich continued to beat up Kelly around the ring until Kelly reversed a move, sending the champ flying into a steel staircase. Kelly loaded her hand with the chains, but Slamovich blocked the blow and instead headbutted her. She then smashed Kelly’s head into the steel steps numerous times.
With the chain wrapped around Kelly’s neck, Slamovich brought the fight to the stage, where she put a choke around her. Kelly escaped the move and put Slamovich in a chain choke of her own. Kelly then hit a nasty suplex on the entrance ramp.
Kelly threw Slamovich back into the ring and got a two-count. On their knees, Kelly and Slamovich got engaged in a forearm shootout. They continued trading blows as they worked back up to their feet, where they knocked each other down with a pair of clotheslines.
Slamovich suplexed Kelly into the turnbuckles, hit a knee strike, then a pair of kicks that knocked the challenger down. After a series of reversals, Kelly hit an Angel’s Wings for a two-count. She tried picking up Slamovich again, but she avoided the move. Instead, Slamovich scored with a Snow Plow for a near fall.
Kelly avoided another move from Slamovich, instead picking her up and dumping her into the corner turnbuckles. She scored a dropkick, but it still wasn’t enough to beat the champ. Kelly put Slamovich in a choke, although Slamovich reversed it into a choke of her own using the chain, forcing a tap.

Slamovich has gotten past the returning Kelly, extending a title reign that has crossed the 250-day mark. She now will set her sights on Ash By Elegance, who is the next one in line to challenge for her belt.
After the match, NXT’s Fatal Influence faction attacked Slamovich. NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne picked up the TNA Knockouts World Championship afterward, teasing a potential champ vs. champ match.
Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside came to the ring to send Fatal Influence retreating.

A backstage clip from last week’s episode of Impact showed Eric Young expressing frustration that The Home Town Man isn’t being seen as Cody Deaner by others.
A video then played from this week, where Young grilled Northern Armory’s Judas Icarus and Travis Williams for their loss to The Hardys last week, where Young was ejected from ringside for interference. They promised that they’ll do whatever it takes for him. “Prove it,” Young replied.
During TNA’s Injury Report, they mentioned that Trey Miguel is suffering from a hernia injury, and Xia Brookside has a knee injury.
NXT’s Darkstate attack Matt Cardona after win
A grudge match between Matt Cardona and Eddie Edwards took place next. This was set up on last week’s episode after The System confronted Cardona backstage.
Alisha Edwards distracted Cardona early in the match, allowing Edwards to yank him off the middle rope. Cardona connected with a back body drop and then a Re-Boot, but Alisha once again caused him to pause his motions, breaking his momentum. This slight delay allowed Edwards to avoid a Radio Silence, reversing it into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.
Alisha put a ring on the apron, which Edwards grabbed and planned to use on Cardona. But right after he grabbed the ring, The System’s Brian Myers appeared at ringside, seemingly trying to convince him not to use the ring. Once Edwards turned around, Cardona was able to get a roll-up for the win.

After the match, NXT’s Darkstate hit the ring to attack Cardona. Darkstate has been teasing on recent episodes of NXT that they have been planning their next move, and it looks like maybe this was it.
A clip played after the break showing that The Home Town Man was attacked backstage and seemingly unmasked. We didn’t get to see whether or not it was Cody Deaner under the mask.
It was announced that Masha Slamovich will face the NXT Champion at Slammiversary. Slamovich’s opponent will depend on who wins at WWE Evolution in a bout between Jacy Jayne and Jordynne Grace.
Jake Something and Mance Warner set sights on Steve Maclin
In his first TNA match back from injury, Jake Something took on Mance Warner in the co-main event of the night. TNA International Champion Steve Maclin was on commentary for the match.
Something avoided a knee strike from Warner, instead sending him flying to the outside of the ring with a hard forearm. Something caught the attention of Maclin as the bout went to ringside, causing the champ to stand up and stare him down briefly. Warner got in the face of Maclin after he attacked Something.
Something went for a forearm strike onto Warner, but he moved out of the way. Instead, it knocked down Maclin. Not happy about this, Maclin attacked Something, causing the match to get thrown out with a no contest end. A brawl between all three wrestlers kicked off, only ending after security got in the way.

Backstage, Maclin seemingly set up a three-way: “You both want this? You got it!”
Nic Nemeth takes down Rascalz member Zachary Wentz
The next match saw Zachary Wentz take on Nic Nemeth in singles action. Myron Reed, who they noted is back in TNA, was at ringside to support Wentz.
Wentz scored a corkscrew crossbody out of the corner, sending Nemeth to the outside. He tried for a tope suicida to the outside, but the dive hit Ryan instead of Nic. This got Nic back into control as the bout went to a break.
Wentz started to make a comeback eventually, getting a two-count with a double stomp to Nemeth’s back. After a sequence of reversals at the top turnbuckle, Wentz got Nemeth to the mat with a superplex. This again only got a two-count.
Wentz reversed a move from Nemeth into a powerbomb for near fall. Nemeth avoided a handspring knee from Wentz and instead hit a Famouser, but it wasn’t enough to earn him a win.
Wentz avoided a superkick and instead tried for a roll-up, kicking off a series of pin attempts from both. Wentz connected with a superkick of his own, then a handspring knee, but Nemeth remained in the fight with another kickout.
Wentz had this leg grabbed by Ryan Nemeth as he hit the ropes. Wentz came over the top and to the outside with a crossbody to wipe out Ryan after. This gave Nemeth the chance to get back into the match, scoring a superkick and then a Danger Zone (Zig-Zag) for the pinfall win. The Nemeths and Rascalz are 1-1 heading into their Slammiversary four-way ladder match.

Trick Williams jumps Slammiversary opponents
The final segment of the night saw Frankie Kazarian moderate a discussion between the Slammiversary main eventers: Trick Williams, Joe Hendry and Mike Santana.
Showing his bias, Kazarian mentioned early on that he believes the three-way match won’t be a feel-good story for either Santana or Hendry. Williams stated that he has beaten both Hendry and Santana before and has no issue doing it again at Slammiversary.
Kazarian asked Hendry his thoughts, but took his microphone away before he could form a full sentence. He did the same to Santana, but Santana wasn’t taking the abuse. He took the microphone back: “First of all, you disrespect me one more time, I’ll drop your ass on your own show,” Santana said.
Santana said he didn’t get into wrestling to sing “corny ass songs” or be a “fake rapper,” but instead to be the best in the world. “This company was built off being the best in this ring, not none of the crap that you guys are doing.”
Hendry then took the mic. “Mike, I respect your abilities … And one day you will be the man here. But you are gonna respect me, because the people are still changing ‘We believe.'”
Williams said Hendry isn’t the man to take the brand to the next level. He then said that Santana lied when he told his daughter he would win the TNA title. “The only one telling the truth is me.”
Kazarian then interjected: “If I’m not holding the TNA title, the only man worthy is Trick Williams.”

Suddenly, Williams attacked both Hendry and Santana from behind, kicking off a brawl between the heels and the faces. Williams laid out Hendry with his title, then scored a Trickshot knee strike to Santana. Williams stood tall over Santana and Hendry as the show came to a close.
