New Japan’s Daiki Nagai will occupy the final spot in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

On Friday’s Road to Wrestling Dontaku show, NJPW president Hiroshi Tanahashi announced Nagai’s spot in the BOSJ. Earlier this week, IWGP junior heavyweight champion DOUKI announced he was “boycotting” the tournament and removed himself.

The annual tournament begins May 14 at Korakuen Hall and runs until June 7 with the final at Ota City Gymnasium. The winner is expected to challenge DOUKI for the championship.

Nagai, 23, debuted for New Japan two years ago and is aligned with the Unbound Company. He participated in last year’s Super Junior Tag League, finishing at the bottom of the A Block with Clark Connors.
