Joe Hennig arrested earlier this month on DUI/DWI and obstruction charges

Former WWE talent Joe Hennig was arrested earlier this month and is facing charges of driving under the influence and obstruction.

Hennig was arrested in Anoka County, Minnesota, on May 17 and faces the following charges, according to its database:

  • Traffic-DUI-Third-Degree Driving While Impaired-Refuse to submit to chemical test.
  • Traffic – DWI – Refuse to submit to chemical test; Breath or test refusal or failure.
  • Obstruct Legal Process-Lawful Execution Legal Process.
  • Traffic-Open bottle law-Possession-crime described.
  • Traffic-Accidents-Driver Involved Fails to Stop for Accident to Property-No injury.

Hennig was released two days later, on May 19, and it is not stated when his court appearance is scheduled.

The 46-year-old is the son of the late Curt Hennig and grandson of Larry “The Ax” Hennig. He inducted his father into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 and began training that year before signing with WWE later that year.

After wrestling in Florida Championship Wrestling, he was part of the second season of NXT as “Michael McGillicutty” and joined the Nexus group in 2010. He received a significant push in 2013, undergoing a name change to Curtis Axel and paired with Paul Heyman, and won the Intercontinental title.

Hennig was cut in 2020 during the early stages of the pandemic and returned for a brief period as a producer in 2022.
