Marcel Barthel, a.k.a. Ludwig Kaiser/El Grande Americano, is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in July stemming from his recent arrest over an incident at a complex in Florida.

Barthel is facing a battery charge over an incident on April 23, where he is accused of striking Richard Reap in an elevator. Reap claims that Barthel was “aggressively kissing” the woman he was with, and Reap informed the couple to “please have some manners” when Barthel attacked Reap. One of the officers observed a fresh scratch on Reap’s head and redness, and there was surveillance footage of the attack.

Reap was shown a lineup of suspects and identified Barthel as the attacker.

Barthel has entered a plea of “not guilty” and has been granted the ability to travel outside of Florida for work purposes. This allowed Barthel to attend a AAA rally last Thursday in advance of this Saturday’s Noche de Los Grandes event in Monterrey, where he faces Chad Gable in a Mask vs. Mask match.

A $1,000 bond was posted after Barthel was placed in custody and posted by Walter Hahn, a.k.a. Gunther from WWE.

A pre-trial conference is listed for July 16 at 9 a.m. in Orlando in front of Judge Andrew L. Cameron.
