Ronda Rousey says she has no interest in doing wrestling, MMA again: ‘My kids need me in their life’

Ronda Rousey wants to be a full-time mom.

Following a successful return to combat sports this month, headlining the first-ever Most Valuable Promotions MMA event on Netflix with a fast submission victory over Gina Carano, Rousey has made it clear that her time in combat sports and professional wrestling is over.

Rousey said shortly after her win in Los Angeles weeks ago that she didn’t plan on fighting again, instead putting her focus on raising her kids and possibly expanding her family. A little removed from that fight, Rousey remains in the camp that her most recent appearance was her last.

“I want to spend my time with my girls,” Rousey told the Up & Adams Show. “I want to have more babies. I’m 39 already. I can’t be taking any more detours. I’m like, really happy with everything I’ve done. Because, at one point, it’s like, ‘When is it going to be enough?’ When are you going to be impressed enough with yourself to spend some time with your family?”

Even a callout from former rival Holly Holm isn’t enough to bring back Rousey. While expressing no interest in avenging that past knockout loss (“I said I’m retired”), Rousey made it clear she would “clean her clock” in a rematch with Holm.

When asked about a return to professional wrestling, with interviewer Kay Adams noting that AEW’s Tony Khan has said there’s an “open door” for her to appear with the company, Rousey said that she’s not interested.

“That life of being on the road [wrestling] is probably more time-consuming than doing training camp at home,” Rousey said.

Rousey appeared at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view earlier this year, showing up during a post-match segment involving Marina Shafir. That cameo was a one-off instead of a tease for something bigger, Rousey said: “[AEW] just happened to be in town and my best friend was there.”

Rousey remains open to the idea of returning to acting, expressing interest in doing “martial arts films.” But, in terms of live performance, whether it be with real punches or worked punches, Rousey’s not planning on being involved.
