MJF calls out his friends and enemies

This week’s episode of Dynamite opened with MJF and the Don Callis Family backstage with Lexy Nair. MJF wanted to say a few words about the men who have been calling him out for his championship. He said he didn’t like Kevin Knight, but he respected him. He also said Knight was one of the most talented young wrestlers in the world while staring at Kyle Fletcher. He moved on from Andrade and talked about Swerve Strickland. He hoped Swerve would “swerve off a bridge,” but hoped nothing would happen to his “coffee plug,” Prince Nana. He hoped Will Ospreay would make it to Wembley, so he could break his neck after everyone said he was destined for his moment. He laughed off Hangman Page before noting that he had beaten Kenny Omega twice. He called Omega a “mere mortal” who will never get his redemption.” He ended with Mark Briscoe and pointed out that everyone he called out is a top act.  He said Mark wasn’t, and that he was someone who everyone feels bad for because Jay died. He said he felt bad for Mark because he thinks he has a chance at winning the AEW title.

Don Callis then named five people who would join MJF tonight and at Forbidden Door. They were Knight, Fletcher, Jake Doyle, Kazuchika Okada, and Andrade, not Trent Beretta, as he seemed to think. Andrade wasn’t happy about being chosen for the team. “Do you think I will join? I have one question. How you know?” But Callis assured him he’ll be a great world champion; he just needs to be patient and be part of the team.

Kenny Omega vs. Tony Nese

Apparently, Tony Nese and “Smart” Mark Sterling came out before the show and demanded a match, and Kenny Omega entered. For those wondering, Stori Denali was not ringside as she sometimes is for matches involving the Premiere Athletes. This was a quick match with Kenny hitting a few snap dragon suplexes, a V-Trigger, and One-Winged Angel to win.

After the match, Zack Sabre Jr., Bad Dude Tito, and Mikey Nicholls came out. The Young Bucks and Jack Perry came out to help out Omega, who introduced TMDK to the crowd. “Don’t ask me what it stands for. I don’t know, and neither do they.” He thanked Zack for throwing out the Forbidden Door challenge. He noted how a win would look good on both of their resumes, as he called Zack the “greatest technical wrestler still going at this thing alive.” He also called New-Japan Pro Wrestling his “home away from home,” and it seemed like he was setting up a TMDK versus Elite tag match, but he ended his promo by telling Zack to leave it as a one-on-one match at Forbidden Door.

Jon Moxley & Daniel Garcia vs. Brodido

This was a solid tag match that was given a ton of time, including two picture-in-picture ad breaks. There were some comedy bits mixed in, with Garcia cutting off Brodido while he danced the Macarena and did his own dance. There was also a moment where Marina Shafir got in King’s way, and they started barking at each other. That was enough for Mox to hit an elbow suicida on King and a spike piledriver on the floor. King eventually got a hot tag to Bandido, and he landed a bunch of big moves on the Death Riders. There was a spot where Bandido attempted a hanging suplex on Mox, but Garcia saved him, and Marina came in with the ref distracted with a punch. However, Bandido lifted her and hit a suplex. The match ended with Bandido hitting a 21 Plex on Garcia and King hitting a tope suicida on Mox.

ProtoKada were backstage talking about their goal for the International Championship, and they revealed they took out Tomohiro Ishii, eliminating him from the 12-man tag tonight and Forbidden Door.

Tommaso Ciampa was backstage and admitted he didn’t always hate Chris Jericho; he used to respect him. He talked about how Jericho took over NJPW and became the first AEW World Champion. That guy was the best, but he hates 2026 Jericho with the jokes, puns and desperation. He said if Jericho still has it in him, then “let’s dance.”

Forbidden Door tag challenge

Cage and Cope surprised The Dogs backstage. David Finlay saved Clark Connors from a double spear. Christian admitted he’s never come across a tag team named after their mothers. He told David that if his father said that he’s a gift to the wrestling business, then he should have done everyone a favor and let him run down the inside of his leg. Adam Copeland said the Dogs resemble them 30 years ago. They thought they were the best until they faced The New Age Outlaws and The APA. They learned from that, and they will take their old-man strength, knowledge, and grumpiness to Forbidden Door and make sure The Dogs walk home like house-broken little pups.

There was a video package featuring Starlight Kid’s promo at a Stardom show, where she called out Thekla’s disrespect for spitting on the Stardom logo and her plan to bring the AEW Women’s Championship to Stardom. Thekla was backstage and noted that she did the dojo training like Kid, but instead of being praised, she got kicked out of Stardom and worked her way up to where she is now. She doesn’t care if Kid is Tony Khan’s favorite wrestler outside of AEW because all she cares about is her belt. She said she will beat Kid, take off her mask, and put hot, steaming spit in it.

Brodido was celebrating backstage, and despite King talking about how great a team they were, Bandido talked about Mox’s Continental Championship. Mox and the Death Riders confronted him, noting that it would be mano y mano.

Hazuki vs. Mercedes Moné

This was a great match. The crowd was fully behind both women, including “Hazuki” chants during portions of the match. There was a lot of hard-hitting action to the point where Mercedes was slightly busted open. Hazuki landed a sick-looking brainbuster, but Mercedes rolled out of the ring. Hazuki got in a bunch of roll-up pin attempts, but Mercedes won following a backstabber and Statement Maker to make Hazuki tap.

A Maya World and Athena video promo played, with Maya talking about how last week was the opportunity of a lifetime after her brother’s passing. She said she would use what Athena taught her against her, but Athena said it won’t matter.

Ospreay and Swerve meet again

There was an awkward start to the segment when Will Ospreay talked about what he did in the bedroom with Alex Windsor. Things picked up once Swerve Strickland entered and told Ospreay that he’s changed. He noted everything they did last year to take down the Death Riders, only for Ospreay to be with them in their “booty boot camp.” Ospreay admitted that the training had paid off and moved on to when he suffered his neck injury. He pointed out that Kenny Omega, The Opps, and Darby Allin tried to help him, but where was Swerve? He injured his knee, which was fine, but when he needed help at All In Texas, Swerve wasn’t there for him, again. He slapped Swerve’s mic away when he asked for an explanation and recalled his experience with Wembley and how it was every kid’s dream to score the winning goal there, and he’s one step away from kicking the ball. He said he doesn’t care who stands in the way of his dream, and he won’t hesitate to end Swerve.

Swerve noted that he had to listen to Ospreay say it wasn’t his or Swerve’s time but Hangman’s, but where is Hangman now? All of this work was for nothing, and now he should step aside for his dreams? “F-ck no.” He said he had to step aside so that people could get the opportunities he deserved, and that he had to let veterans get more time when he was champion. He pointed out that in 10 years, Ospreay’s never beaten him, and he won’t on his worst day and on Ospreay’s fragile neck. Ospreay sucker punched Swerve, and Nana handed him a chain. The Death Riders then came in and surrounded the ring, and Swerve left.

Jericho cut a quick promo, challenging Ciampa to a match on Saturday.

Garcia was chiding Ospreay backstage, which made Ospreay unhappy. Mox told Ospreay not to lose his cool and that it was just words.

MJF & Don Callis Family vs. The Conglomeration, Konosuke Takeshita & Darby Allin

As expected, there was a lot of great action in this 12-man tag, with likely set-ups for future feuds and the steel cage match at Forbidden Door. The closing stretch featured Knight and Darby fighting around the ring onto the stage. Jake Doyle then sent Darby flying into the ring post. Mark hit the Jay Driller on MJF, but Don Callis stepped away from commentary to distract the referee. MJF made Roderick Strong tap out with the Salt of the Earth to win the match. The heels then attacked the babyfaces after the match. The most notable moment was when Andrade hesitated to hold Briscoe up for MJF, but Callis convinced him to do so, as MJF knocked Briscoe out with the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
