Roman Reigns has taken down former ally turned heated rival Seth Rollins.
Reigns extended his run as WWE World Heavyweight Champion on Sunday night, beating Rollins in the main event of SummerSlam Night 2 from the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The win for Reigns emerged following a 33-minute showdown jam-packed with near falls and big moments.
The fight went into the crowd early on, with the title competitors fighting around the stadium attendance. Once they returned to ringside, both Reigns and Rollins scored Shield-esque powerbombs through an announce table.
The next few minutes would see them both endure each other’s biggest moves. Spears, Pedigrees, Curbstomps, Superman Punches and more were landed, at times with one copying the other’s moves.
Late in the match, a referee bump added the opportunity for either competitor to cheat for their win. Rollins brought a steel chair into the ring, attempting to re-create the same attack he gave Reigns when he exited The Shield years back.
But Reigns snatched the chair from Rollins and decided to keep fighting without the weapon, wanting to beat his rival without any extra help. Down the stretch, Reigns countered a Curbstomp out of the corner from Rollins into a spear, then hit a second spear for the pinfall victory.
While Reigns and Rollins traded harsh words throughout the bout, respect was displayed afterwards as they bumped fists in the middle of the ring.
A win for Reigns on Sunday night means his run as WWE World Heavyweight Champion will likely survive long past the 100-day mark he just recently surpassed. Along with his win over Rollins, Reigns has beaten Jacob Fatu and CM Punk in recent months.
Rollins was looking to regain Monday Night Raw’s top men’s title. He held the World Heavyweight Championship for nearly 80 days in 2025, a run which came to an end due to injury in October.
Earlier in the night: Kevin Owens returns, Chad Gable earns long-awaited title
The co-main event saw Minnesota’s own Chad Gable win his first-ever main roster singles belt, overcoming Penta to capture the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The 11-minute win, Gable’s first title shot since coming back from his El Grande Americano persona, saw him counter a Mexican Destroyer into an Ankle Lock for the submission win.
In a wild match that included cameos from Minihausens, numerous Judgment Day members, and Joe Hendry, Danhausen won a “Human Monies on a Pole” match against Dominik Mysterio. The brief six-minute match means Danhausen will remain in possession of money he stole from the Judgment Day weeks ago.
Chelsea Green’s first-ever major title reign started on Sunday night, winning a five-way ladder match to capture the interim WWE Women’s Championship. The victory sets up Green for a future title unification bout against Rhea Ripley, who is currently on the sidelines due to injury.
Baron Corbin’s first WWE main roster title run in nearly a decade started on Sunday when he dethroned United States Champion Trick Williams. Using the belt as a weapon before hitting an End of Days, Corbin gained a title simply weeks after returning to the WWE roster.
Sunday’s card opened with easily the biggest surprise of the night, the return of Kevin Owens. The Canadian star had been out of the ring for over a year due to neck surgery, with his return date completely unclear. Coming back unannounced this weekend, Owens won a four-way also featuring Sami Zayn, Gunther and Finn Balor to earn a future title shot at CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship
