This year’s Night of Champions is up to six matches in total following an eventful episode of Smackdown.
It was confirmed on Friday night that next weekend’s Night of Champions Premium Live Event (PLE) will feature a triple threat match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Cody Rhodes will defend against both Gunther and Sami Zayn as part of the three-way title showdown. Rhodes has beaten Gunther three times over the past month, although each win had a controversial, disputed finish to come with it. After Zayn significantly obstructed both of their title showdowns on Smackdown this week, a frustrated Rhodes added him to the Night of Champions event, hoping that a win over him would end their recent issues.
Among with the world title matchup, this year’s King and Queen of the Ring finals were confirmed on Smackdown.
Jey Uso scored a pinfall win over Je’Von Evans, punching his ticket to the grand finals against the powerful, dominant Oba Femi. And on the women’s side, Liv Morgan beat an injured Charlotte Flair, exposing her knee injury for the submission win on Friday. She’ll face off against IYO SKY in the Queen of the Ring finals.
Ricky Saints overcame Carmelo Hayes in a #1 contenders matchup on Friday, securing him a shot at WWE United States Champion Trick Williams for next weekend’s show.
The Women’s United States Championship will also be defended, with Tiffany Stratton putting her belt up against Jade Cargill. The match was called for by Cargill in a backstage segment on Friday, with Stratton accepting the challenge only hours later.
