AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla made a surprise appearance at STARDOM’s The Conversion 2026, attacking company president Taro Okada before being stopped by Starlight Kid.

The angle took place Saturday at Yoyogi National Stadium Second Gymnasium in Tokyo, after the third match of STARDOM’s pay-per-view event.

Okada was addressing the crowd when Thekla appeared behind him and attempted to cut his hair with clippers. She then attacked Okada, whipped him with the AEW Women’s World Championship belt, and tried to spit on the STARDOM logo in the ring.

Starlight Kid, who will challenge Thekla for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door on June 28, came out to stop the attack. Kid was getting the better of Thekla before the AEW Women’s Champion made her escape and then was removed from the arena by security.

Starlight Kid lifted Thekla’s title and told the crowd that the next time she had the belt in her hands, she would be returning to Japan as champion.

The segment continued Thekla’s recent AEW television angle of running down her former promotion. On the June 3 episode of Dynamite, Thekla spat at STARDOM’s logo as part of the build to Forbidden Door. She has repeatedly claimed that STARDOM fired her, with the storyline tied to a prior attack on Okada, leading to her exit from the promotion.

Thekla later doubled down during the June 13 Collision: Summer Blockbuster, interrupting Tony Schiavone as he attempted to apologize to STARDOM. She said she had done the promotion a favor because “now everyone is talking about them,” and called for STARDOM to send its best wrestler to face her at Forbidden Door.

That led to Starlight Kid being announced as Thekla’s challenger for the AEW Women’s World Championship.
