Tony D’Angelo’s next challenger will be decided on Tuesday.
A #1 contender’s match for the NXT Championship will take place on the August 11 edition of NXT, with Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana fighting for the high-profile opportunity.
Following a run as TNA World Champion, Montana joined the NXT roster last month and set his sights on D’Angelo’s NXT title. Shortly after his arrival, main roster talent Waller made his shocking return to the Tuesday night show, looking to disrupt the brand’s title picture.
Sick of the bickering between Waller and Montana lately, D’Angelo demanded that they face off to determine a #1 contender. Not long after that was said, a match between them was booked for next Tuesday.
Next week’s show will also see Wren Sinclair challenge Zaria for the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Sinclair fought to a time-limit draw against Zaria in a WWE Women’s Speed Championship bout this week. The match had a stipulation that, if Sinclair was able to defend her title, she would get a shot against Zaria.
Two grudge matches have also been booked for next week. Looking to beat former Culling teammates Izzi Dame and Niko Vance, Shawn Spears will team with Lizzy Rain. And, after telling his DarkState teammates this week that they need to get out of their losing ways, Dion Lennox will take on rival Saquon Shugars in singles action.
