AEW will honor one of its originals and help raise awareness for ALS later this year.
A September 9 edition of Dynamite from the Akins Arena in Athens, Georgia, will be a “Rebel Heart” TV special, the company announced this week. The event will honor Rebel (Tanea Brooks), an AEW wrestler who was diagnosed with terminal ALS earlier this year.

This September, AEW is dedicating a night to raising awareness for ALS. AEW: Rebel Heart Dynamite airs live from Akins Ford Arena in Athens on September 9th, honoring Tanea Brooks, known to fans as Rebel. A donation will be made from the event to benefit I AM ALS and Team Gleason, two leading organizations in the fight against ALS.
AEW has helped support Rebel following her diagnosis earlier this year. The company is currently selling “Rebel Heart” t-shirts and wristbands, with 100 percent of profits going to ALS charities.
The AEW roster has also brought back the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness. Adam Cole, Dustin Rhodes, and Sting have all participated in recent days.
A Rebel TV special has been in the works for months. AEW’s Tony Khan initially mentioned the idea months back at a press conference, saying he wanted this year’s Fight for the Fallen charity event to support ALS charities.
