The “American Nightmare” is back.
Cody Rhodes made his return on WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event TV special this weekend, showing up to prevent John Cena from further interfering in a championship match between Jey Uso and Logan Paul.
Rhodes appeared inside the Yeungling Center in Tampa, Florida, this weekend to handle Cena, who had shown up in hopes of giving Paul a win to further act out his plan of “ruining wrestling.” A Cross Rhodes was delivered to Cena, taking him out of the equation and allowing Uso to finish off his bout against Paul just moments later.
The appearance, getting him back on TV after dropping his title to Cena at Wrestlemania 41 last month, set up what might be his in-ring return. Afterward, Rhodes issued a challenge for Money in the Bank, which is set for June 7.
“You’ve ruined enough,” Rhodes told Cena. “I’m sorry that the John Cena farewell tour ran right through Rhodes Country. But I’m back, and I’m ready to fight. You’ve got yourself a partner in Logan Paul, I got myself a brother in the World Heavyweight Champion. We’ll see you at Money In The Bank.”
While not confirmed yet, it’s likely that the tag match will soon be official for WWE’s return to Inglewood, California. Here’s how the card looks currently:
- John Cena & Logan Paul vs. Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso
- Men’s Money In The Bank Match: LA Knight vs. Solo Sikoa vs. TBA vs. TBA vs. TBA vs. TBA
- Women’s Money In The Bank Match: Alexa Bliss vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia vs. Roxanne Perez vs. TBA vs. TBA
