Rollins in the Bank

The Memorial Day edition of Monday Night Raw from Tampa kicked off with Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and the newest member of the still-unnamed group, Bronson Reed. Paul Heyman took the mic and talked up each member, and asked the crowd to “acknowledge” Rollins, to which the crowd responded by chanting “We Want Roman”. Rollins said that he was the only person capable of leading WWE into the future, and he would be World Heavyweight Champion if it weren’t for Sami Zayn and CM Punk. Rollins announced that he was going to qualify for and win Money in the Bank, and there was no one who could stop him.

Money in the Bank Qualifier

The first match of the night was a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match, pitting Penta against Chad Gable and Dragon Lee. El Hijo del Vikingo was shown sitting ringside as the match began. Dragon Lee and Penta started off by teaming up against Gable, but that ended quickly as the pair squared off against each other. At one point, Penta lifted both Lee and Gable on either side of him when Gable was dropped right on his face in a scary-looking spot. Thankfully, he seemed to be okay as the match continued. Dragon Lee executed a crazy dive onto Penta and over the announce table. Gable then started attacking Vikingo at ringside, as Michael Cole mentioned that they would be facing each other at Worlds Collide. Vikingo then attacked Gable when he was setting up for a moonsault, allowing Penta to hit the Penta Driver for the win.

Money in the Bank Qualifier

Backstage, Judgment Day was hanging on when Roxanne Perez came in with chicken nuggets for him. Liv Morgan then returned and said that Raquel had kept her informed while she was gone. Morgan said she would address it later, but first, she was off to ask Adam Pearce for a spot in a Money in the Bank Qualifying Match.

Happy Memorial Rusev Day

Next up, WWE aired a Memorial Day video narrated by Cody Rhodes. After that, Rusev took on Akira Tozawa, with Tozawa seeking revenge for Rusev’s interference in Otis’s match a few weeks ago. Tozawa came out of the gate hot and got a little bit of offense in, but was quickly overcome and tapped out to The Accolade in under a minute. Rusev then continued to attack Tozawa when Sheamus ran down and the two had a brief staredown before Rusev backed off.

Netflix Synergy

Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer were interviewed in the back, talking about their Netflix shows, when Bert ran off and found the War Raiders and took his shirt off and had one of them give him a chop. Backstage, Sami Zayn was telling Jey Uso that he should have gone out when Seth Rollins and company were in the ring earlier. Jey said that instead, he should go and win the Money in the Bank qualifier.

World Tag Team Championship

Next was the World Tag Team Championship Triple Threat match between Champions The New Day, The War Raiders, and The Creeds. The New Day and The Creeds teamed up on The War Raiders in the early goings, keeping them grounded. Finally, Ivar got the hot tag, and the Raiders took it to the two other teams, culminating with a near fall after a splash off the top. New Day then picked up the win by quickly rolling up Julius Creed with a handful of tights after he nailed Ivar with a running knee.

Liv Jumping Right Back In

Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were walking in the back when they ran into IYO Sky and Kairi Sane. Liv said she was going to win Money in the Bank and then cash in on Sky. Sane then challenged Liv to a match for later tonight.

Six Letters, One Word: Gunther

Jey Uso was out next and was swiftly interrupted by Gunther, who congratulated Jey on fifteen years of The Usos in WWE and his first successful title defense against Logan Paul this past Saturday. Gunther said that Jey is weak because he cares about others, whereas he only cares about himself, and that’s why he held the title for so long. Uso responded by saying he would make Gunther tap out again.

Liv Morgan vs. Kairi Sane

Up next, Liv Morgan took on Kairi Sane, and Michael Cole noted it was the first time that these two had ever faced off. Early in the match, Liv hit a sunset flip power bomb onto Sane on the outside. After a commercial break, Kairi had several nearfalls on Liv but couldn’t put her away. Morgan then hit a Codebreaker off the second rope for a nearfall of her own. Sane went to the top rope when Roxanne Perez ran in and knocked Sane down as Raquel Rodriguez distracted the referee. Rodiguez started arguing with Perez when Kairi rolled Morgan up for the win.

Later, backstage, Judgment Day was arguing about the result of the match when Liv said that Raquel should have known better and stormed off.

Mami in the Bank

A promo package was aired with Rhea Ripley saying she would win Money in the Bank and cement herself on top of the Women’s division.

AJ Styles, Gable, and the TNA Champion

Backstage, Chad Gable admonished The Creeds for losing their title shot and instructed Ivy Nile to get them into shape in case they got another shot. El Hijo del Vikingo entered and told him he’d see him at Worlds Collide. AJ Styles then nailed Gable and said if he ever interferes in his match again, he would put him through the floor. Vic Joseph appeared to announce that Trick Williams would be on NXT live tomorrow, and he is the new TNA World Champion.

Lyra Valkyria Promo

Next, Lyra Valkyria got on the mic and complained that Becky talked herself into a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank. Valkyria said it was personal after she tried to break her arm and attack her fiancé at Backlash, and she would hurt Becky at Money in the Bank. This brought out Becky, who said that she was done with Lyra, but she made it personal by ruining her chance at winning Money in the Bank. Becky suggested that if Lyra beats her, she can never challenge her for the Intercontinental Title again, and if Becky wins, Lyra has to raise her hand.

Backstage, Karrion Kross approached Sami Zayn and chided him for having to do things his way and that he’ll never win the title. Zayn got into Kross’ face and said, “I’ll deal with you later”.

Money in the Bank Qualifier

Next on the show was another Money in the Bank Qualifying Match, this time featuring Seth Rollins taking on Sami Zayn and Finn Bálor. Bálor had the early advantage as tehs show went to commercial. Zayn at one point executed a Springboard Moonsault and then pointed to the sky, clearly paying tribute to Sabu. Rollins hit a giant splash to a prone Zayn as the show went to commercial again. Rollins then talked Bálor into a team-up but Zayn was able to fight them both off. Rollins then hit the Pedigree on both Bálor and Zayn for nearfalls. Rollins attempted a Stomp but Zayn countered it with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Zayn followed that up with an Exploder in the corner and set up for the Helluva Kick but Bálor stopped him.

Rollins then hit the Stomp on Bálor and Zayn hit the Helluva Kick on Rollins but Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker pulled Zayn out of the ring. Jey Uso then showed up trying to even the odds. Dominik then appeared with a chair and slid it into the ring, but instead of Bálor grabbing it, Rollins stomped Bálor onto it, picking up the win. CM Punk’s music then hit and he hit the GTS on Rollins before retreating into the crowd.
