Saraya on return to wrestling: ‘If the opportunity is there, I’ll take it’

It’s been nearly a year since Saraya last wrestled, but it doesn’t seem like that appearance will be her final one in the ring.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion recently mentioned that she remains open to making wrestling appearances, notably setting her sights on a WWE return sometime in the future.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vilet, Saraya mentioned that while she remains focused on other career goals outside of the industry, she’s not against stepping back into the ring again.

“If the opportunity is there, I’ll take it,” Saraya said about wrestling again. “I won’t chase it too hard, because, again, I want to be focused on stuff outside of wrestling. I want to get into a bunch of different things. If the opportunity arises and I would get a call to be like, ‘Hey can you come in and do this?’ Sure.”

Saraya, who got out of her AEW deal in March, says she’s able to appear anywhere today, hypothetically. She told Van Vilet that she had a “clean split” with AEW earlier this year and is a free agent, not held back by any sort of noncompete clause.

“I could pop up anywhere,” Saraya said. “My contract’s done, done. That’s the one thing that helped, they gave me the opportunity to walk away from this contract. Not a lot of companies or businesses would do that, but you know, Tony [Khan] was really, really great about it.”

With the second-ever Evolution all-women’s Premium Live Event (PLE) this weekend, fans have brainstormed about the many names who might make a return at the card. Among those in the discussion, of course, has been Saraya.

Injuries meant that Saraya couldn’t wrestle on the first-ever Evolution card back in 2018. Because of this, she’s interested in the idea of appearing on Sunday’s card.

“It’s like a bittersweet thing, because I couldn’t be on it because the first one, I couldn’t be on it because of my neck. So if I had the opportunity to be on this all-female pay-per-view, of course I’d think about it.”
