Report: Hirooki Goto to play E Honda in upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie

Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto has reportedly landed a role in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.

Goto has been tapped to play E Honda in a live-action “Street Fighter” film, Fightful Select reported on Thursday.

The upcoming film has reportedly also picked up WWE’s Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for roles, too. Reigns is expected to play Akuma, and as we learned last week, Rhodes has been picked to play Guile.

Other notable names reportedly involved in the film include Jason Momoa, 50 Cent, Andrew Schulz, and Orville Peck, making the project an eclectic selection of celebrities from many different industries.

Goto was suddenly written out of NJPW’s summer plans recently after dropping his IWGP belt to Zack Sabre Jr. late last month. Citing an elbow injury, Goto was then withdrawn from the upcoming G1 Climax tournament, which is scheduled to kick off just over a week from now.

The “Street Fighter” film, directed by Kitao Sakurai, is expected to be released in 2026. A more exact release date isn’t known at the moment.
