Welcome to the Great American Bash

Je’Von Evans vs. Jasper Troy

NXT’s Great American Bash from Atlanta kicked off with Je’Von Evans taking on LFG Season 1 Winner Jasper Troy. Early in the match, Evans showed off his high-flying ability while Troy countered with his “monster mentality”. Troy then took control of the match, tossing Evans out of the ring twice in a row, followed by focusing on Evans’ previously injured ribs as the crowd chanted “Young OG”.

The beatdown of Evans continued with several attempted comebacks being shut down by Troy. Finally, Troy missed a Vader Bomb, which allowed Evans to “get bouncy” and hit Troy with a huge dive to the outside. Evans then slipped while attempting to bounce off the bottom rope but was able to recover and hit a German Suplex on Troy, followed by a Frogsplash for a two-count. Evans then countered the Black Hole Slam with a roll-up to score the pinfall victory.

Jaida Parker and Stacks Promos

A video package featuring Jaida Parker aired with her saying she was going to win the Battle Royal tomorrow night at Evolution. Stacks also had a video where he created a list of people whom he wanted to embarrass. Stacks claimed that Matt Bloom accepted his challenge, so he approached him at the Performance Center. Bloom denied accepting, and suddenly Stacks’ Heritage Cup was gone as he went looking to find who had taken it.

Next, Sol Ruca and Zaria were interviewed backstage and talked about her SmackDown debut last night, but said she was laser-focused on retaining her Women’s North American Championship. A DarkState glitch interrupted Zaria, saying she was going to be in Ruca’s corner and that they would win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships tomorrow at Evolution.

NXT Women’s North American Championship

Next up was The Culling’s Izzi Dame, accompanied by Tatum Paxley, taking on Sol Ruca with Zaria for the Women’s North American Championship. Just as the bell rang, Paxley slapped Zaria, and the two argued on the outside, allowing Izzi Dame to hit the Sky High Powerbomb, but the referee didn’t get to see the pinfall attempt for a few seconds, as Ruca was able to kick out.

Dame maintained control of the match, shutting down Ruca’s comeback attempts as the crowd chanted “Let’s go Ruca”. Things then began to get more even as Ruca successfully got some offense in, including a moonsault off the top to the outside, where one of her feet caught Dame in the head. Back in the ring, Ruca hit a big spear, but Paxlet helped Dame get her foot on the rope. Zarira then took out Paxley as Ruca hit the Sol Snatcher for the win.

Afterward, a video was shown with Lola Vice debuting in AAA and saying that she would win the Battle Royal tomorrow night at Evolution. After that, Blake Monroe and Jordynne Grace were shown preparing in the back for their match against Fatal Influence, with Monroe saying that after they win, Grace will win the NXT Women’s Championship tomorrow at Evolution.

NXT Men’s North American Championship

The next match up was the Falls Count Anywhere Match between Ethan Page and Ricky Saints for the NXT North American Championship. Ricky Saints started this match off hot by jumping Page and taking it to him on the outside.

The two quickly brawled into the crowd and up into the concourse, with Saints putting Page through the merchandise table. Saints and Page then returned to ringside and continued their brawl, with Page placing a chair around Saint’s neck and ramming him into the ring post. Saints then set up two chairs back to back and set up for a powerbomb, but Page reversed it and dropped Saints back-first onto the chairs in a brutal-looking spot. Page then suplexed Saints into a guardrail set up in the corner for a near fall.

Saints then recovered and powerbombed Page through four chairs set up together for a two-count. The two then brawled into the backstage area, and Saints was thrown into Jasper Troy, who promptly hit him with the Black Hole Slam on a production road case.

The brawl continued back onto the stage with Saints hitting a Tornado DDT, utilizing the referee as a wall to push off. Page then hit Ego’s Edge off the stage through two tables and successfully pinned Saints for the win.

Afterward, a video from Luca Crusifino was shown, where he talked about others overlooking him. It was then announced that NXT’s next PLE would be WWE Heatwave (note no NXT branding) on Sunday, August 24th from Lowell, MA.

TNA Championship Contract Signing

Next was the contract signing for the TNA Championship match ahead of Slammiversary on July 20th, hosted by NXT General Manager Ava, featuring Mike Santana, Joe Hendry, and Trick Williams. TNA President Carlos Silva was shown in the crowd as the contract signing began. Santana got on the mic and ran down Williams and Hendry, telling Williams he got soft. Hendry responded by saying he wouldn’t be distracted by Santana, as he never should have lost the title in the first place. Williams was up next, saying that he was the greatest TNA Champion of all time, prompting the crowd to chant “AJ Styles”. After that, Santana and Henndry teamed up to put Williams through the table. Suddenly, DarkState appeared and began to attack Hendry and Santana with Williams watching on.

A video was shown with Tony D’Angelo revealing he was the one who stole Stacks’ Heritage Cup. D’Angelo tossed it into a river and said that he would destroy his family this Tuesday.

NXT Championship Match

The penultimate match of the afternoon was Oba Femi defending the NXT Championship against NOAH’s Yoshiki Inamura with Josh Briggs. Inamura surprised Femi in the early going, showcasing his power and hitting a flying shoulder tackle on Femi on the outside.

Femi briefly used his power to take control, but Inamura used his quick strikes to swing the momentum back his way, following that up with a stalling German Suplex on Femi. The referee then accidentally got taken out, and that allowed Josh Briggs to hit Oba Femi with the NXT belt. Inamura then realized what had happened and was upset with Briggs. Inamura then hit the splash from the top, but the referee hadn’t recovered in time. Briggs then was trying to hand Inamua the chain from around his neck as the referee was finally coming to, screaming “do something”. Finally, Briggs got taken out by Femi, and he hit the Fall From Grace for the win.

Another video was shown, this time featuring Lash Legend talking about how she would win the Battle Royal tomorrow at Evolution. After that, Trick Williams complained to Ava about Hendry and Santana teaming up against him. Ava said it was convenient that DarkState jumped his two opponents for Slammiversary. Ava then made a match with Williams, Hendry, and Santana against DarkState this Tuesday.

Oba Femi was interviewed in the back and was interrupted by Inamura, who apologized for Briggs’ involvement. Femi said he would give Inamura a rematch soon. Josh Briggs then appeared, and the three started arguing.

The Main Event

The final match of the afternoon was a tag team match with Jordynne Grace and Blake Munroe taking on Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, accompanied by Jazmyn Nyx. This was Monroe’s in-ring debut, and the crowd chanted for her in the early part of the match. At one point, Jacy Jayne tried to enter the ring when she was not legal, distracting the referee and allowing Nyx to nail Munroe behind his back.

The heels got the heat on Grace for a while until finally Monroe got the hot tag and took on both Henley and Jayne. Nyx then again got a shot in on Monroe without the referee catching it. Fallon Henley then got dumped to the outside and was able to run down the ramp and spear Grace through the ropes.

Nyx then got involved a third time, only to have Masha Slamovich come down and brawl with Nyx to the back. Grace then hit Jayne with a spinning backfist, and Jayne stumbled into Monroe, who hit her with a Double Arm DDT to pin the NXT Women’s Champion.
