NJPW G1 Climax 35 Night 6 results: Ren Narita, YOSHI-HASHI lead B Block

The B Block for the NJPW G1 Climax 35 has two leaders following Night 6.

Both holding eight points, Ren Narita and YOSHI-HASHI currently sit atop the block, just one win ahead of four others, who trail by two.

The updated standings take into account the results from Saturday’s card at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, but also include the matches forfeited by Gabe Kidd, who formally announced his withdrawal from the bracket on Friday.

Ren Narita moved into the tie at the top of the B Block by doing what he does best, cheating. After a distraction from Dick Togo allowed him to hit Shota Umino with a low blow, Narita scored with a Double Cross and then Hell’s Guillotine for the pinfall win in the co-main event of the night.

YOSHI-HASHI came close to standing alone at the top of the block on Saturday, narrowly losing to Great-O-Khan after getting wiped out by his Eliminator chokeslam. Had YOSHI-HASHI won, he would have led the block with 10 points. Instead, he sits alongside Narita with eight.

Konosuke Takeshita put on a 23-minute epic in the main event against Shingo Takagi, ending the physical back-and-forth battle with a Chickenwing Cross-Face. The hard-hitting match was one of the longer G1 matches of the tournament thus far.

Takagi is the sole wrestler in the G1 who has yet to earn a win inside the ring. His two points, the fewest out of any active B Block wrestler, were earned through a forfeit victory to the injured Kidd.

In one of the stronger performances of the night, IWGP champ Zack Sabre Jr. had to dig deep for a win over El Phantasmo. Phantasmo had the champ reeling numerous times during their near 20-minute battle, but eventually found himself forced to tap due to a submission. Showing respect to Phantasmo for his effort, Sabre Jr. fist-bumped him afterward. The win helped Sabre Jr. get back on track after losing two of his first three block matchups.

Drilla Moloney didn’t have to move a muscle for his two points on Saturday. Due to scheduled opponent Gabe Kidd withdrawing from the tournament due to injury, Moloney was moved up to six points via forfeit.

A tripleheader of events this weekend from NJPW will wrap up Sunday with a card from Nagoya. The A Block will be back in action for that card, with a showdown between Hiroshi Tanahashi and Ryohei Oiwa getting the main event spotlight.
