AEW Collision 9/12 Results: Daniel Garcia wins ‘Butcher Battle Royal’ to close out emotional Andy Williams tribute show

Daniel Garcia won a ‘Butcher Battle Royal’ to close a special edition of AEW Collision dedicated to the life of Andy Williams.

Saturday’s live broadcast from the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, featured tributes to Williams throughout the night from friends and colleagues across the AEW roster.

The show concluded with Garcia eliminating Josh Alexander to win the 12-man battle royal. AEW announced that the winner would direct $100,000 to a charity of their choice in Williams’ name.

An emotional Garcia dropped to his knees after the victory and embraced Marina Shafir. He was then handed one of Williams’ guitars and held it aloft before taking a fan’s “Rest in Peace Andy” sign and displaying the two together.

Also during the show, Tony Schiavone read a message from Jesse Guilmette, also known as The Blade, Williams’ longtime tag partner, who was present last Saturday when Williams suffered his medical emergency. Guilmette said:

Andy was the most talented person that I ever met. But I think we all can agree that he was an even better friend. Andy loved pro wrestling and he loved the fans. Thank you to everybody for the support. And thank you to everybody at AEW for tonight’s event honoring Andy Williams. We love you, Andy.

Williams, known in wrestling as The Butcher, died last weekend at 48.

Collision opens with ten-bell salute for Andy Williams

As reported earlier, the broadcast opened with a floral wreath surrounding a photograph of Williams in the ring. A guitar stood alongside it while images from his life played across the arena screens.

The crowd chanted “Butcher” before Tony Schiavone asked everyone to stand for a ten-bell salute.

A video then featured Brody King, Colt Cabana, Justin Roberts, Penelope Ford, Jeff Jarrett and Kip Sabian remembering Williams.

King described Williams as one of his closest friends for roughly a decade and recalled sitting with him in the crowd at PWG shows, long before the two imagined that the wrestlers they were watching would eventually become their peers.

Roberts spoke about the contrast between Williams’ imposing Butcher persona and the person behind it, describing him as an “angel” who had helped many people.

Jarrett said very few people had left an impression on him like Williams and hoped to carry that influence forward by being “a little bit more like Andy.”

Sabian recalled turning to Williams when he was going through dark periods. He said Williams’ final words to him had been, “I miss you,” before adding that he would always miss him in return.

Jon Moxley vs. Mike Bailey

The wrestling portion of the show began with Continental Champion Jon Moxley facing Mike Bailey in a title eliminator with a 20-minute time limit.

Bailey repeatedly targeted Moxley’s left leg and came close to scoring the upset through several late pinning combinations.

A shooting star press earned another near fall, after which Bailey applied a kneebar. Moxley reached the ropes and later struggled to execute the Paradigm Shift when his damaged leg gave way.

Bailey continued to press as time ran down, but Moxley survived another series of covers before hitting a curb stomp and the Death Rider for the pin.

Nick Wayne challenges Chris Jericho

Nick Wayne addressed his continuing issues with Chris Jericho, arguing that experience could not make up for youth.

Wayne said Jericho was threatened by him and challenged the former AEW World Champion to face him on Wednesday’s Dynamite and “show him a thing or two.”

The Rascalz vs. Aaron Solo, Nick Comoroto & Griff Garrison

The Rascalz made short work of Aaron Solo, Nick Comoroto and Griff Garrison.

Zachary Wentz, Myron Reed and Dezmond Xavier overwhelmed their opponents with rapid tandem offense before Wentz scored the pin on Solo following Hot Fire Flame.

Garcia, Willow and PAC remember Williams

Another tribute package followed.

Garcia said he had known Williams for close to 10 years and viewed him as an older brother. He revealed that Williams had given him his “Red Death” nickname.

Garcia remembered Williams as the first person he wanted to call after both successes and setbacks.

Willow Nightingale spoke about the striking contrast between Williams’ appearance and personality. She described him as a rock star and intimidating-looking wrestler who was nevertheless humble and without ego.

Nightingale said Williams had helped her more than he probably realized and hoped he would be remembered above all as a great person and “the epitome of a good brother.”

PAC struggled to contain his emotions as he remembered his friend.

He called Williams “too good for this world” and said Williams had always made sure PAC knew that he loved him.

Queen Aminata vs. Mina Shirakawa

AEW Women’s World Champion Mercedes Moné joined commentary as Queen Aminata faced Mina Shirakawa.

The two exchanged control before Shirakawa began attacking Aminata’s leg and locked in the figure-four.

Aminata eventually reached the ropes. When Shirakawa immediately attempted another figure-four, Aminata countered into an inside cradle for the three-count.

The two showed respect after the match.

The Dogs confront the Death Riders

David Finlay and Clark Connors confronted Gabe Kidd over his growing association with the Death Riders and questioned why he had been following Jon Moxley’s lead.

Moxley entered the conversation and told them he did not need to babysit anyone. He said the audience had paid to see wrestlers give everything they had and challenged The Dogs to prove themselves against the Bang Bang Gang.

Jay White vs. Adam Priest

Jay White defeated Adam Priest in a competitive singles match.

Priest targeted White’s leg and attempted to apply a single-leg crab late in the match. White rolled through the attempt and caught him with the Blade Runner for the victory.

White then called out The Dogs and Death Riders for an eight-man tag match, bringing the next contest together immediately.

The Dogs & Death Riders vs. Bang Bang Gang

The match began as a brawl, with Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, Juice Robinson and Ace Austin taking control of David Finlay.

Jon Moxley joined commentary as the match continued, while Jay White remained nearby and exchanged words with him.

The pace increased late, with all eight wrestlers trading offense. Ace Austin wiped out several opponents with a Fosbury Flop before the Bang Bang Gang hit 3:10 to Yuma on Clark Connors, only for Finlay to break the cover.

The opposing side recovered, and Connors eventually speared Austin for the pin.

More wrestlers remember Williams

A third collection of remembrances featured Chuck Taylor, Darius Martin, Roderick Strong, Christopher Daniels, Lee Moriarty and Kyle O’Reilly.

Taylor, who was a fan of Every Time I Die before befriending Williams, repeatedly described him as “the coolest guy” he had ever met.

Martin said Williams was somebody the locker room could look to as both a leader and a friend, while Strong remembered their early days grappling together and thanked him for the random conversations and messages over the years.

Daniels remembered the contrast between Williams’ distinctive, intimidating image and the “gentle giant” he came to know.

Moriarty described Williams as representing the best of professional wrestling and what the world should be.

O’Reilly called him a “beacon of light” in the locker room who could be relied upon to make people smile.

The Blade sends message for Williams

Schiavone then read a message submitted by Williams’ longtime tag team partner, The Blade, who was with him at the Enjoy Wrestling event where Williams suffered his fatal medical emergency.

Andy was the most talented person that I ever met. But I think we all can agree that he was an even better friend. Andy loved pro wrestling and he loved the fans. Thank you to everybody for the support. And thank you to everybody at AEW for tonight’s event honoring Andy Williams. We love you, Andy.

Tommaso Ciampa says he is heading to All Out

Tommaso Ciampa reflected on his first year with AEW and said it was time to pursue another championship.

Ciampa referenced the major events he had already experienced with the promotion before declaring that it was now time to go “All Out.”

“I’ll see you in Chicago,” he said.

The Conglomeration vs. Lethal Twist

Kofi and Austin Creed of The New Level joined commentary as The Conglomeration faced ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Lethal Twist.

Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong worked together throughout the match, with Strong at one point using Cassidy as a weapon against Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.

Lethal Twist came close after combining their offense on Strong and setting Jay Lethal up for his diving elbow.

O’Reilly broke up the cover, and The Conglomeration recovered. Strong eventually hit Lethal with the End of Heartache for the pin.

Strong pointed toward The New Level after the match, continuing the championship issue between the teams.

Blood & Guts returning to Jacksonville

Schiavone announced that Blood & Guts 2026 will take place November 4 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.

It will be AEW’s first event at the arena and the first Blood & Guts in Jacksonville since the match debuted at Daily’s Place in 2021.

Tickets go on sale September 28.

Daniel Garcia wins the Butcher Battle Royal

The main event featured Daniel Garcia, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, Josh Alexander, Dante Martin, Darius Martin, A.R. Fox, Jake Doyle, Lance Archer and The Beast Mortos.

AEW noted that Williams held the company record for most eliminations in battle royals. The winner of Saturday’s memorial match would receive the right to direct a $100,000 donation to a charity of their choice in Williams’ name.

Mortos eliminated Fox first before Castagnoli and Yuta combined to send Ortiz out.

Kingston then eliminated Yuta, while Dante and Darius Martin teamed up to remove Mortos.

After the break, the Martins eliminated Doyle before both were sent out themselves. Castagnoli survived a confrontation with Lance Archer and eliminated him following a Giant Swing.

The final four were Garcia, Castagnoli, Kingston and Alexander.

Kingston knocked Castagnoli from the apron, only for Alexander to immediately capitalize and eliminate Kingston.

That left Garcia and Alexander.

Alexander appeared to have the match won after a German suplex and package piledriver before throwing Garcia over the top rope. Garcia managed to hang on.

The two eventually fought on the apron, where Garcia escaped Alexander’s shoulders and connected with kicks before sliding back inside.

Garcia then hit a running dropkick that sent Alexander to the floor for the final elimination.

The Buffalo native, who earlier in the show had described Williams as a big brother, fell to his knees after the bell.

Shafir entered to embrace him before Garcia was given Williams’ guitar. He raised it above his head, then took a “Rest in Peace Andy” poster from a fan and held both in tribute.

Garcia left the ring and was embraced by Yuta and Castagnoli at ringside. A final tribute video aired in memory of Andy Williams as the roster gathered at the entranceway.
