Jey Uso goes face-to-face with Paul Heyman
This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, opened with a tribute to Hulk Hogan. Much like what they did on Friday’s Smackdown, the roster was standing on stage to open the show. A recording of the words Paul Levesque provided about Hogan from Friday was played before they gave another ten-bell salute.

After a video package on Hogan played, Jey Uso came to the ring for a promo. This was the first of two times we’d see Uso on the card, as he was also booked to face Bronson Reed later in the program.

Uso was about to play his theme again, but was cut off by Paul Heyman, who appeared on the stage. Heyman said he came out with the intention of talking about family. He attempted to get into the ring, but decided against getting too close to an enraged Uso.
Heyman, mentioning how Uso will team with Roman Reigns at Summerslam against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, said that family only lets people down. Trying to strike a nerve, Heyman noted that Reigns never picked Uso as the next in line to become tribal chief.
Heyman said that he said all of this because he loves Uso – the crowd obviously wasn’t buying into this.
It was time for Uso’s retort: “Keep running your mouth about my family, because you know I don’t play about mine,” a fired-up Uso said. Uso said that he didn’t strike out on his own in spite of Reigns, but instead did so to prove to himself that he could. He finished by mentioning that because Heyman and his squad have screwed both him and Reigns, whatever happens later tonight and at Summerslam is on the “Wise Man.”
AJ Styles earns pinfall win on Dominik Mysterio ahead of Summerslam title bout
The first bout of the night helped preview Summerslam, as AJ Styles, Asuka and Kairi Sane took on Dominik Mysterio, Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez in mixed tag action. Styles and Mysterio will battle it out for the Intercontinental Championship at Summerslam, plus Perez and Rodriguez will defend their belts (albeit not against The Kabuki Warriors, who were the sole non-Summerslam part of this bout).
Sane, who found herself stuck in the Judgement Day corner for some time, got the opening for a tag after connecting with a spear to Perez. In a smart move, Rodriguez went over to the babyface side of the ring and pulled Asuka off the ring apron as Sane neared a hot tag, keeping her in the match against Perez.
Sane dodged a move in the corner from Rodriguez, sending her into a ringpost. This allowed Sane the chance to finally tag in Styles, who was able to get his hands on Summerslam opponent Mysterio. Styles scored a splash in the corner to Mysterio, and an Ushiguroshi. He went to the apron for a Phenomenal Forearm, but decided against the move after Perez got in between him and Mysterio.
Styles got back into the ring and connected with a Pele Kick to Mysterio. He avoided a move from Perez, instead sending her out of the ring, where the Kabuki Warriors beat down both her and Rodriguez. Styles helped toss Sane over the top rope for a dive to take out Rodriguez – this high-flying move looked great.

Styles went back to the apron and connected with a Phenomenal Forearm, giving his team the clean pinfall win. Styles picked up a jolt of momentum heading into his title fight this weekend against Mysterio.
Rusev isn’t done with Sheamus
An interview from earlier today showed Sheamus reflecting on his win over Rusev from last week. As he was celebrating his victory, he was interrupted by the New Day and Grayson Waller. Sheamus asked Waller if he wanted to scrap. “Yeah, maybe I do,” the “Aussie Icon” replied. While Waller said that he’s backed up by the New Day now, by the end of the segment, both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were no longer standing behind him.
Among the celebrities shown at ringside during the broadcast was former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jamahal Hill.
This matchup was 50-50 early on. Waller landed his usual Rolling Flatliner in the opening minutes of the match. He incensed Sheamus by slapping him in the face just before the match went to ringside. Sheamus connected with a Rolling Senton while out of the ring.
Waller caught Sheamus as he was entering the ring, causing him to score a nasty DDT, which made Sheamus land onto the ring apron. Waller tried for another Rolling Flatliner, but instead ate a knee to the head from Sheamus.
Waller crawled over to the ring apron, where, unfortunately for him, is where Sheamus does his 10 beats to the chest move. Sheamus set up for the Brogue Kick, but got distracted by Rusev, who suddenly appeared on the ring apron.
Sheamus took Rusev off the ring apron with a clohthesline, but found himself rolled up into a pin attempt from Waller right after. Sheamus escaped the pin and then scored with his Brogue Kick for the pinfall victory.

Rusev didn’t give Sheamus any time to bask in his victory, striking him in the back with a shillelagh. Rusev ended his beatdown with The Accolade, which put Sheamus to sleep.
Backstage, Naomi was asked about how she will fare in her triple-threat match at Summerslam against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. “Now, why would you ask me some mess like that?” Naomi said to Jackie Redmond. Naomi said that while most of the roster is passive-aggressive, she’s “aggressive-aggressive.” She mentioned that her performance in tonight’s eight-woman tag will prove that.
Another Hulk Hogan tribute played, including comments from Logan Paul, AJ Styles, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Jimmy Hart, Natalya, Jey Uso, The Miz, and Cody Rhodes. WWE said a newly released “Hulk Hogan Legacy Collection” has been released on WWE Shop, with all proceeds going toward his family.
In the locker room, Paul Heyman and Bron Breakker were hyping up Bronson Reed ahead of his match tonight against Jey Uso. “Tonight, Jey Uso and any member of his family, I am going to leave down, out, and Tsunami’d,” Reed said.
After Reed left, Breakker said, “I have a plan.”
Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch don’t want to talk things out
Lyra Valkyria came to the ring to discuss her Summerslam matchup against Becky Lynch. The former Intercontinental Champion mentioned that she knows what Lynch is capable of in no-DQ stipulations, but Lynch isn’t aware of what she’s capable of.
Lynch’s music hit, and Valkyria knew immediately that her opponent wasn’t there to exchange words. While initially looking at the stage, Valkyria sensed that Lynch would come from somewhere else. Valkyria suddenly turned around and dove out to ringside, where Lynch was standing with a kendo stick.

Valkyria took the kendo stick from Lynch, beating her with the weapon around the ring. The fight went to the ring, where Valkyria tried for Nightwing. Lynch was able to escape the move and flee, ending the segment.
In a pre-taped interview hosted by Corey Graves, Sami Zayn said he wants to finally be done with Karrion Kross by beating him at Summerslam. Suddenly, Kross himself entered the shot and took Graves’ spot. Kross said he thought of attacking Zayn, wants him to make it to Summerslam.

“After I beat you at Summerslam, you are going to say the words ‘Kross told the truth,’ and then I will go away,” Kross said.
Kross tossed a metal pipe into Zayn’s lap. Zayn replied: “If you beat me at Summerslam, I’ll say whatever you want me to say. But here’s what I want you to think about for now: Maybe you’re wrong.” Zayn insisted that when Kross loses at Summerslam, he wants him to admit that he was wrong.
Jackie Redmond asked Bayley where her head is at after not making the Summerslam lineup, just months after also missing Wrestlemania. “For the first time in my career, I am at a loss for words,” Bayley said.
Stephanie Vaquer, IYO SKY, Nikki Bella & Rhea Ripley win all-star eight-woman tag
An eight-woman tag match was up next, as Naomi, Chelsea Green, Alba Fyre, and Piper Niven fought IYO SKY, Nikki Bella, Rhea Ripley, and Stephanie Vaquer. This was Bella’s second non-Rumble or battle royal appearance since 2018.
Ripley and Naomi started things off, although Naomi tagged out after getting a quick beatdown from the former champ. Bella and Green were in next. Bella had a hot start against Green, but found herself isolated after Green deployed her Secret Hervice onto her.
IYO SKY got a hot tag after the show returned from a break, but it didn’t take long for her to be in a similar isolated position to what Bella was stuck in. Fyre scored a Swanton Bomb to SKY, but a pin attempt was broken up afterward by others. The match got quite hectic at this point, with tons of illegal wrestlers battling in and around the ring. Naomi got a piece of Summerslam opponent Ripley, tossing her into a steel staircase.
Vaquer tagged in, coming off the top rope with a crossbody to Green. After knocking down Niven with an Eat Defeat and dropping Naomi with a series of headbutts, she attempted to give a double knees to all four heel wrestlers, who were in a different corner of the ring. Vaquer gave the knees to Green, Fyre, and Niven. Naomi avoided the knees, but instead took a dragonscrew leg whip.
Vaquer gave Green the Devil’s Kiss, but Fyre got back into the ring to break a pin attempt afterward. Bella got into the ring and gave Fyre a Bella Buster. Naomi attempted to grab her WWE Women’s World Championship and leave, but was thrown into the ring by SKY. Bella dropped Naomi with a forearm, then SKY came off the top rope with a dropkick.
Niven dropped both SKY and Bella with a double clothesline. Ripley took down Niven with a headbutt, then scored her Riptide finisher. Green got back into the ring and slapped Ripley. Once she turned around, legal opponent Vaquer was there, giving her the S.V.B. for the win. SKY, Ripley, Vaquer, and Bella celebrated together after their victory.
Inside the Judgement Day clubhouse, Finn Balor tried to motivate a dejected Mysterio, Rodriguez, and Perez, who lost earlier in the night.
Backstage, Ripley and SKY talked following their win. Ripley mentioned that they were friends tonight, but they’re opponents at Summerslam. “Rhea, you’ve never beaten me, and you never will,” SKY said. “We’ll see about that,” Ripley replied.
Masked mischief stops LWO from becoming new champs
The LWO’s Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde looked for their first-ever WWE titles in the co-main event, challenging World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
LWO had a strong start before the commercial break, including Wilde going off the top rope and to the outside for a dive. The Judgement Day were using cheap tactics as the show came back from a break – McDonagh notably distracted the referee as Balor, who was on the ring apron, got a shot in against Wilde.
Del Toro got a hot tag against McDonagh, getting into the ring with a top-rope move. Del Toro sent Balor tumbling off the ring apron with a dropkick, then, impressively hit a Coast To Coast for a near fall.

Judgement Day tried for stereo suplexes, but instead it was LWO who hit the move. The challengers then did dual suicide dives to the outside. Back in the ring, Wilde hit a moonsault off the top to Balor, then Del Toro followed up with a Phoenix Splash. McDonagh got into the ring to break up a pin attempt.
With Balor and Del Toro in the ring, El Grande Americano appeared on the ring apron. While Americano was eventually taken out of the equation by Dragon Lee, who brawled with him to the back, this briefly distracted Del Toro, allowing Balor to try for a roll-up pin.

Del Toro escaped the pin attempt, then dropped Balor with a head kick. As Wilde dove to the outside to take out McDonagh, Del Toro climbed to the top. But another masked man, whom Corey Graves thought was Americano but Michael Cole claimed was someone else, came from the crowd and knocked him off balance. This allowed Balor to connect with the Coup de Grace for the pinfall win, keeping the tag titles in their possession. A tough loss for LWO.
CM Punk gets the final word in with Gunther
Just before the main event, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther came to the ring to address his Summerslam match against CM Punk.
Gunther gloated about his battle on the microphone last week against Punk. As he said this, it seemed as though Punk wanted a rematch, coming out to join the discussion.
Punk said that it dawned on him last week that he doesn’t “want” to be World Heavyweight Champion, he “needs” to be. While he’s straight edge, Punk claimed that he understands addiction because wrestling is his addiction. He wants to become champ as a thank you to fans who have continued to chant his name.

— WWE (@WWE) July 29, 2025
Gunther tried cutting Punk off, but Punk put down the champ’s mic. “I wasn’t finished,” Punk said. “There’s levels to this, kid. And you’re going to find out a hard lesson after Summerslam on Saturday, you are not on my level. For as great as you are, Saturday night, I’m leaving World Heavyweight Champion. But hey, at least you’ll be able to share a ring and finally feel what it’s like to be in the ring with the one, the only, the best in the world.”
Punk walked away from a frustrated Gunther to end the segment.
Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed wipe out Summerslam opponents
The final match, fittingly for “Main Event” Jey Uso, saw him face off against Bronson Reed.
Uso got a two-count just a minute into the bout with a hip attack in the corner. He came running off the ropes with a pair of clotheslines, but wasn’t able to knock Reed over. Upon the third attempt, Reed was able to counter with a shoulder tackle, which knocked down Uso.
Uso tried to get back into the match with a crossbody off the middle rope, but instead was hit with a World’s Strongest Slam from Reed as the show went into its final commercial break.
Uso dodged a senton from Reed right as the show returned. Seemingly finally beginning to claw back into the fight, Uso send Reed tumbling out of the ring after a series of punches and then a thrust kick. Uso followed Reed to the ringside with a suicide dive.
As Uso was at ringisde, Bron Breakker came charging down the ramp and speared Uso, resulting in a disqualification result.

Reed and Breakker brought Uso into the ring to further their beatdown. However, their assault was interrupted by Roman Reigns, who came to even the odds. While Reigns wasn’t able to lift Reed (potentially a tease for a spot this weekend), he sent him off the ring apron with a Superman Punch as Uso scored a Superkick to Breakker.
Uso and Reigns tried to do spears at ringside, but things didn’t go as planned. Breakker instead delivered a spear to Reigns, and Reed tackled Uso. With Reigns hurt at ringside, Breakker was able to come running off the ropes with a huge spear to Uso.
As Breakker held down Uso, Reed came off the top with a Tsunami. Breakker noticed that Reigns was working back up to his feet at ringside. This caused Breakker to come lunging off the ring apron and onto Reigns, taking them both over the commentary desk.
This extensive beatdown wasn’t over yet. Breakker brought Reigns into the ring for a Tsunami from Reed. Breakker left the ring for a huge spear, which put both Reigns and Uso through a barricade. Adding insult to injury, Reed took off Reign’s shoes after the spot.
The heel team stood tall as their beaten and bruised Summerslam opponents were laid out to end the show.
