Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger in WWE, has announced his retirement from professional wrestling at the age of 43.

Speaking on the latest episode of Saraya’s ‘Rulebreakers’ podcast, Hager confirmed he is stepping away from the ring to concentrate on his new trucking company based in Florida.

“I’m getting out of wrestling,” Hager stated. “I’m pretty much…I can say I’m retired from it. I started a trucking company…running routes through Tampa and Florida. I’m not driving, not me. I got people driving. I’m excited. It’s something to stick my teeth into, you know. Hard work always pays off.”

Hager revealed the company’s name is Haulin’ Oats, a play on the name of the musical duo Hall & Oates. He added that with his children now aged 13 and 10, he is enjoying being home with his family more.

An accomplished amateur wrestler at the University of Oklahoma, Hager signed with WWE in 2006. During his tenure as Jack Swagger, he captured the ECW Championship, the United States Championship, and the World Heavyweight Championship, which he won by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase in 2010.

After leaving WWE in 2017, he had a four-fight career in Bellator MMA, ending with a record of three wins and one no-contest.

In 2019, Hager joined the newly formed All Elite Wrestling, debuting on the first episode of Dynamite as a member of the Inner Circle. He remained with the company until his contract expired in May 2024.

Hager’s last documented match took place in November 2024 on the independent circuit in France.
