AEW Dynamite ranked number one on cable for Wednesday despite a dip in overall viewership and the 18-49 demographic.

The August 13 broadcast averaged 690,000 viewers on TBS, a three percent decrease from the previous week (711,000), according to data from Wrestlenomics

In the 18-49 demographic, Dynamite posted a 0.17 rating, which was down six percent week-over-week (0.18).

The show’s top ranking on cable was an improvement from its number two finish the week prior, when it ranked behind a first-run episode of South Park.

Data does not include those watching the simulcast on HBO Max.

The episode opened with its strongest viewership. The first quarter-hour, featuring a promo segment with MJF and Hangman Adam Page, drew the night’s high of 864,000 viewers and 282,000 in the 18-49 demographic.

Viewership subsequently trended downward for much of the broadcast. The largest quarter-to-quarter drop occurred between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. ET, which saw a 13% total audience decline during an eight-man tag match featuring The Young Bucks. The show hit its low point in the following quarter-hour with 560,000 viewers. Viewership then ticked up again slightly toward the end of the broadcast.

This week’s episode from Cincinnati, Ohio, featured multiple matches being set up for AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view on August 24, and a seeming reconciliation between Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.
