Sami Callihan confirmed his retirement from professional wrestling on Friday night, wrapping a two-decade career inside the squared circle.

Callihan, 37, wagered his career in a singles bout against Mike Santana at Friday night’s TNA Emergence card. If he wasn’t able to overcome one of the promotion’s best, he described, he would take it as a sign to step away from his time as a wrestler.

After dropping his bout to Santana as part of Friday night’s event at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, Callihan left his boots in the middle of the ring, signalling that he had confirmed the end of his career.

Callihan addressed the retirement on social media afterward.

“Everything good in my life is because of wrestling,” he wrote. “It was a pleasure. On to the next chapter.”

The Ohio-based wrestler started appearing in the mid-2000s, working the U.S. independent scene. Callihan would appear all around the world of wrestling over the years, amassing a résumé which covered a large number of the prominent independent spots around the globe.

Notable stops for Callihan included CZW, ROH, PROGRESS, IWA Mid-South, EVOLVE, Dragon Gate USA, DEFY, AAW, MLW, and many others.

Callihan signed onto an NXT deal in 2013, beginning a brief stint in WWE as Solomon Crowe. He left the promotion by 2015.

He also notably used the alias Jeremiah Crane while part of Lucha Underground, where he worked 21 matches over the course of a few years.

Callihan started appearing in TNA Wrestling back in 2017 (then known as Impact Wrestling). He would wrestle nearly 200 matches for the promotion over the next few years.

His time with the promotion included a reign as Impact World Champion from late 2019 to early 2020, earning the belt off Brian Cage and defending it five times before losing to Tessa Blanchard.

Callihan reportedly parted ways with TNA in 2023 but would return in April 2024, kicking off what would become his final stint in the company.
