Roman Reigns and Bronson Reed
Monday Night Raw from Birmingham kicked off with Roman Reigns coming out and basking in the English crowd’s sing-song chants. Reigns said he had big plans for tonight, for this year, and for next year as well. Roman mentioned Cody Rhodes’ being right about him a year and a half ago, and the mention of Cody got booed and a “fuck you Cody” chant that Netflix censored… poorly. Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed (now donning a “Tribal Thief” shirt) interrupted, saying that five years ago this week, Heyman became Reigns’ wise man.

Heyman said that Reigns needed tough love, and Bronson Reed would beat it into him at Clash in Paris. Reed noted that his tribe was exiled to Australia, where he earned his tattoos, and Reigns simply paid for them. Reigns was incredulous that Reed was Samoan and said, in that case, he belonged to him. Reed and Reigns then started brawling with security personnel, who attempted to separate them. Somehow this took up the first thirty minutes of the show.

Backstage, Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh found Dominik Mysterio talking to El Grande Americano, and Dom said not to worry about it. This led directly into McDonagh taking on Dragon Lee.

The match began, and within one minute, Finn Bálor was ejected from ringside for attempting to distract (not actually distracting, to be clear). These two were having a pretty good match when suddenly the Netflix stream started stuttering and lost all audio. As it fixed itself, both Domiki Mysterio and AJ Styles were at ringside and then fought into the crowd. Back in the ring, McDonagh was distracted by the outside activity, and Dragon Lee took advantage by hitting Operation Dragon for the win. (Note: timing on this match may be off because of the Netflix feed.)

Backstage, LA Knight posited that CM Punk purposefully put him through the table last week. Knight also pointed out that he was the only one in the Championship match at Clash in Paris who had a match tonight – and against Bron Breakker at that.

A Rusev promo package aired, in which he challenged Sheamus to a match of his choosing at Clash in Paris. This seemed to have been filmed and aired out of order, as it was already announced as a “Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook” last week. Later, a Sheamus response aired with him welcoming Rusev back to WWE (Note: Rusev returned on April 21st).
Backstage, Judgment Day was arguing about JD losing and AJ Styles interfering. Mysterio suggested Bálor handle Styles tonight, and he agreed. Rodriguez then tried to pump up Roxanne ahead of her match against Rhea Ripley later tonight.
Penta vs. Kofi Kingston
Next up was The New Day’s Kofi Kingston taking on Penta. This continued the feud over Xavier Woods’ giant mourning hat, and during the ad break, Corey Graves compared damaging the hat to Big Boss Man interrupting Big Show’s father’s funeral, which popped Michael Cole.
“Big G” Grayson Waller (not to be confused with Shorty G) had a petition to ban the Mexican Destroyer, also known as Penta’s finishing move. Cole noted there were only twenty-eight signatures so far after Graves signed. Penta attempted the Mexican Destroyer, but it was countered. Penta hit Kingston with the Penta driver, and Kingston kicked out – prompting Graves to scream that no one had ever kicked out of it before. Waller then distracted Penta, and Kingston hit Trouble in Paradise for the win.
KOFI JUST KICKED OUT OF THE PENTA DRIVER! ? This match is INSANE!
Also, if you're in the crowd tonight, DO NOT sign Grayson Waller's petition! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/18g9jwGZdL

After the match, a clip of WWE Unreal was shown featuring Cody Graves. If you haven’t yet, you should check out the Double Shot with John Pollock and Wai Ting covering every episode of Unreal.
Backstage, Rhea Ripley was approached by Iyo Sky, who thanked her for having her back last week. Sky said that Asuka and Sane were her family and asked that Rhea keep her distance. Ripley agreed, and Sky thanked her for understanding, even giving her a hug.

Backstage, Adam Pearce told Stephanie Vaquer that she is the #1 Contender, but due to the situation with Naomi, Paris cannot happen. Pearce asked for a week to figure things out, and he will have her opponent.

Becky Lynch & Nikki Bella
Becky Lynch was out next and ran down Birmingham, which brought out Nikki Bella. The two traded barbs until Becky agreed to a match at Clash in Paris. Lynch said the only good thing to come out of Birmingham died a month ago, but at least Ozzy Osbourne had the sense to move to Los Angeles. The two then attempted to hit their finishers on each other before Becky took a powder.

Rhea Ripley vs. Roxanne Perez
As the match began, Rhea Ripley got distracted by Raquel Rodriguez just looking at her, allowing Roxanne Perez to take control with Ripley selling a potential knee injury. This became the story of the match, with Perez focusing all her offense on the knee. Ripley finally recovered and attempted a Razor’s Edge, only to have Rodriguez pull Perez to safety. Ripley then countered a Pop Rox and hit the Riptide for the win. After the match, Rodriguez and Perez double-teamed Ripley when Iyo Sky (who just said to leave her alone) ran down to help. A little later backstage, Asuka had a caniption about this and screamed at Sky.

Backstage, Seth Rollins pumped Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker up for their respective matches tonight and at Clash in Paris. Reed was successfully pumped, but Bron Breakker seemed to be nonplussed, barely reacting to Rollins’ words.
AJ Styles vs. Finn Bálor
As this match began, Michael Cole ran down Styles’ accolades, specifically his winning TNA titles, nothing about NJPW, and then congratulated Ash by Elegance for winning the TNA Knockouts World Championship last night at NXT Heatwave. AJ Styles hit the Styles Clash to win in just over eight minutes.
AJ STYLES and FINN BALOR seem evenly matched tonight…

Jey Uso cut a backstage promo, explaining to Roman Reigns that he just wanted to be the World Heavyweight Champion again. Reigns said it was about locking in their legacy.

Another Bayley promo aired, this time with both devil and angel voices talking to her. Backstage, Lyra Valkyria was asking Adam Pearce what was going on with Bayley. Judgment Day then approached, and Dominik demanded that Pearce do something about AJ Styles. Pearce made a match between Styles & Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship next week on Raw from Paris. Dominik called Pearce “Charles Xavier”, saying it didn’t work for him.

The Main Event
The Vision was heading to the ring for the main event when Roman Reigns interrupted, attacking both Breakker and Reed. LA Knight then jumped in and fought Breakker all the way out to the ring.

Knight dominated Breakker all around the ring without the bell ringing. Finally, Knight rolled Breakker into the ring, and the match was officially on. At one point, Breakker took down Knight and looked into the camera, saying, “Look, it’s one half of one hundred” in a reference to Knight’s age. Knight seemed to have the match won when Seth Rollins appeared, distracting Knight and allowing Breakker to hit two consecutive spears for the win.
Feeling a little worried, Rollins? ?

Rollins and Breakker began to attack Knight when Jey Uso ran down, but Rollins took him out with a Pedigree. This led to CM Punk attacking Rollins. Breakker quickly pulled Rollins from the ring, leaving the three faces in the ring. Knight and Punk brawled until Jey Uso hit Knight with a superkick. Jey paused for a moment before hitting Punk with a Superkick as well, much to Rollins’ chagrin.
