Swerve Strickland has started his road to recovery.

The former AEW World Champion posted a photo to social media on Wednesday morning, confirming the reports that he has undergone surgery for a torn meniscus.

Earlier this week, Bodyslam.net and Fightful both wrote that Strickland was scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday for his torn meniscus, an injury he has reportedly been dealing with since 2019.

Strickland posted a photo of his knee via Instagram Story on Wednesday morning, showing the leg bandaged up. Around that same time, he tweeted a short and vague, yet positive update to X: “Success.”

Strickland’s last appearance came on Sunday night at Forbidden Door, when he went 16 minutes in an unsuccessful challenge for Kazuchika Okada’s AEW Unified Championship. He was attacked in the post-match, getting his knee wedged between steel stairs and a ringpost afterward.

He wasn’t the only one who was seemingly written off AEW TV at Sunday’s show in London. Will Ospreay also suffered a brutal assault following his main event win against the Death Riders, causing him to be stretchered out of the building. The attack came after Ospreay noted to the press that he will soon have to step aside for surgery.
