ECW legend Taz will still get a special tribute soon, but just a few days later than originally expected.

Earlier this week, Taz was surprised with the reveal that he would be inducted into the Hardcore Hall of Fame as part of AEW’s residency at the famous 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The plan was for Taz to be inducted on Saturday night during the taping of AEW Collision inside the legendary grounds which once hosted ECW events. However, due to the short-notice nature of the surprise reveal, Taz had requested that he be given a few more days to help bring family to the upcoming ceremony.

“Because it was a surprise and he asked for some more time to get his family and everybody lined up, Taz did ask if I could please postpone the surprise induction for tomorrow until Wednesday, and I have granted that stay for him,” AEW’s Tony Khan said on Friday evening during the ROH Death Before Dishonor post-show scrum.

Taz spent the majority of his in-ring career working for ECW, appearing in over 300 matches for the promotion from 1993 to 1999. Now retired, he has served as a commentator for AEW since 2019 and is a fixture on the show’s Wednesday night program, Dynamite.

Khan described Taz as an “indispensable” part of the promotion’s team, “a great commentator and ambassador here in AEW,” he said on Friday.

His induction will put him into a Hall of Fame featuring many other legends of ECW, including Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Team 3D, Shane Douglas, Eddie Guerrero, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Terry Funk, and many more.
