John Cena Says: Jorts > Jeans

Monday Night Raw from Springfield, Massachusetts, kicked off with the arrival of The Usos, only to be confronted by LA Knight, as a shoving match ensued. Adam Pearce and WWE officials separated them, with Pearce threatening to remove zeroes from their paychecks.

John Cena received a raucous reception from his home state crowd, and he explained that his time attending nearby Springfield College had prepared him for his time in the WWE. Cena then turned his attention to his opponent at Wrestlepalooza, Brock Lesnar, calling him “controversial” and “damn near invincible. The crowd responded by chanting “Fuck you, Lesnar,” and Cena wondered aloud why he didn’t say no to Lesnar’s challenge. He said he could play politics in the back and not face Brock, but instead, he fights his battles in the ring. Cena finished off by pointing out a fan’s sign that said his jorts are better than Brock’s jeans.

Backstage, Adam Pearce was trying to calm Jey Uso and LA Knight down, and Knight suggested giving him The Brons. Pearce agreed and said he needed a partner. Knight chose Jimmy Uso, and Jey was not happy.

Lyra Valkyria vs. Roxanne Perez

Early in the match, Raquel Rodriguez attempted to interfere to help Roxanne but was caught by the referee and ejected from ringside. In the meantime, Perez had Valkyia pinned, but the referee didn’t see it. Valkyria was selling her back from last week’s match against Rodriguez, and Perez used it to her advantage. After an ad break, Valkyria overcame her back pain and hit the Nightwing for the clean finish over Perez. Rodriguez returned to ringside after the match, and Rodriguez and Perez commenced a beatdown on Valkyria when Bayley returned and fought off the heels. Bayley then seemed to fight back her demons and then went around hugging everyone at ringside.

Backstage, Adam Pearce had Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky sign their contract that still inexplicably didn’t happen last week. The Kabuki Warriors interrupted, and Asuka got into Vaquer’s face. Asuka said that tonight, Vaquer will face Kairi Sane, and Adam Pearce made it official.

Elsewhere backstage, Jimmy Uso told LA Knight that selecting him as his partner was not the right move, and he had to find someone else.

Kofi Kingston vs. Penta

Next up was Penta taking on The New Day’s Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods and Grayson Waller accompanying him. Xavier Woods was yelling Simpsons references at ringside (a reference to them being in Springfield, MA), and both Woods and Waller attempted to interfere, but Penta persevered and hit a Springboard Mexican Destroyer for the win.

Backstage, Jey Uso was on the phone but wouldn’t reveal who it was to Jimmy. Jey then told Jimmy he had to turn down Knight’s offer to be his partner. Jimmy told Jey to change his tone, and he didn’t see an ulafala around his neck. This was oddly paced as it seemed like one or both brothers forgot a line or two. After a break, Jimmy found Knight and told him he was in for the match.

Mixed Tag-apalooza

Next on the show was the face-to-face segment between the Wrestlepalooza Mixed Tag Match opponents with Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch and CM Punk & AJ Lee. Punk ran down Rollins & Lynch, even calling both of their themes “crappy” and pointed out that he was more than happy to come out to Lee’s theme instead of Cult of Personality. Becky Lynch brought up how Punk fought Drew McIntyre over a bracelet with AJ Lee’s name on it. AJ admitted that she doesn’t know what will happen on Saturday, as it’s been ten years since she’s taken a bump. This promo went on forever as the crowd kept coming up with different chants, interrupting the segment.

Rollins then made a comment saying that CM Punk has a habit of leaving when things let him down. AJ then slapped Rollins, and Rollins cued Becky to jump in, but she refused. Becky then took a powder, saying that this was all Seth’s fault for getting them into this. Punk started chasing Rollins, and Becky ran back in and hit the Manhandle Slam on AJ. Becky then slapped Punk, and they revealed that it was all a ruse.

New AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio was interviewed, referring to himself as the “Mega Intercontinental Champion.” The interview was interrupted by loud noises happening off-screen, and it was revealed that The New Day were attacking Penta. Penta’s best friends, The War Raiders, ran in to check on Penta.

El Grande Americano vs. Dragon Lee

Next, Dragon Lee took on El Grande Americano in a spirited contest that wowed the crowd. As has happened in weeks prior, a second Americano appeared and attacked Lee, almost resulting in a win for OG Americano. AJ Styles then appeared and fought the second Americano off and into the crowd. A third Americano then appeared, attacking AJ and distracting Dragon Lee. El Grande Americano then submitted Lee for the win as all three Americanos celebrated, recreating the Spider-Man meme.

Backstage, Lyra Valkyria approached Bayley’s locker room, and Bayley could be heard perfectly on the mic screaming about needing help. Valkyria then entered to find a perfectly calm Bayley and thanked her for her help earlier. Bayley then screamed at Valkyria for barging into her locker room.

Rhea Ripley approached Stephanie Vaquer and said whoever won the title, she was coming for them. Vaquer said she would be ready.

Stephanie Vaquer vs. Kairi Sane

The next match was Kairi Sane taking on Stephanie Vaquer, with Sane shouting directions at Sane from ringside. Again, Sane seemed a bit clunky in this match, as mentioned in this report in recent matches. That said, Vaquer continued to impress, including hitting a double cross body from the top rope onto both women on the floor. Vaquer then hit the Devil’s Kiss and the SVB for the win. After the match, Asuka got in the ring, but Iyo Sky ran down to head her off. Sky and Vaquer shook hands to end the segment. Later backstage, Iyo Sky told Asuka she was winning on her own. Asuka begrudgingly agreed and stormed off.

A promo package aired with The Brons saying that Saturday at Wrestlepalooza will be the end of The Usos. During the ad break, Grande Americano was interviewed and cut a promo in Spanish, but refused to answer anything about the additional Americanos.

The Judgment Day was celebrating Dom’s big win with champagne backstage when Finn Balor brought up Perez and Rodriguez having a tough night and Dominik being involved with El Grande Americano. JD McDonagh asked what Americano wants in return, and Dom said he just respected him. Rusev then interrupted and declared himself the next Intercontinental Champion.

Main Event

The final match of the night was The Brons of the Vision, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, taking on LA Knight and his partner of choice, Jimmy Uso. Jimmy and LA worked well in tandem as the match began, and they had the advantage on the heels. The faces continued their ways after an ad break, but Breakker came out of nowhere, nailing Knight with a crazy-looking shoulder tackle on the outside.

Reed then hit the Jagged Edge for the clean win on Jimmy. Breakker and Reed started a beatdown on Jimmy after the match, and that brought Jey out for the save. Jey leveled Reed with a chair, and then Knight picked it up behind Jey’s back. Jey said that they were good, and Knight threw the chair to the mat. Jey extended his hand, and Knight accepted, but Knight hit Jey with the BFT anyway as the show ended.
