Corey Graves Goes For a Ride

SmackDown from Toledo kicked off with Michael Cole stating that he was supposed to conduct his sit-down interview with Brock Lesnar backstage later tonight, but Lesnar had requested it now. Cole got up and started heading to the back when Lesnar’s music hit. Brock picked up Cole and tossed him into the ring.

Corey Graves then jumped into the ring and pleaded with Brock to stop, but got an F5 for his troubles. Lesnar grabbed the camera and yelled that tomorrow was “D-Day” and he was coming for blood. Lesnar then destroyed the Prime energy cart and gave Graves a second F5. The crowd chanted “one more time,” and Brock left. After the commercial break, Graves was being helped, and we got nearly a full replay of the entire first segment.

Backstage, Brock ran into Paul Heyman and The Brons and told Heyman they should talk before leaving the arena. Nick Aldis appeared and said he didn’t need any more problems. Heyman said he wanted to broker a peace with The Usos, but Aldis said they were already in Indianapolis. Heyman said they would stay and enjoy the show.

Back at ringside, Michael Cole said he had never felt as helpless as he did tonight, and if that’s what awaits John Cena tomorrow, he didn’t know if Cena had the answers.

Women’s Tag Team Championship

Cole was left at the desk solo as the first match of the night saw Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defending their tag team championships against Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre. During the commercial break, The Miz joined Cole as his broadcast partner.

Meanwhile, the crowd was hot for this match as Green and Fyre attempted to use all the heel tactics to pull off a victory. Bliss and Flair then hit stereo Natural Selections and picked up the win.

Backstage, B-Fab was trying to get the Street Profits back on the same page. Michin interrupted, saying that Nick Aldis wanted to speak to them about their match against Kianna and Giulia. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins appeared to bury the hatchet, and Ford said he was going to talk to Nick Aldis about getting their tag team championships back. Uncle Howdy then appeared and said he would listen to Dawkins, while Ford would not. Erick Rowan then appeared and left the Profits lying.

After a commercial break, R-Truth had an ESPN booth set up and said he was showing people how to use the ESPN app to watch Wrestlepalooza tomorrow night. Angel and Berto approached, and the three presented an infomercial for the app, attempting to spell it out as plainly as possible but somehow making it more confusing in the process.

Fraxiom vs. The Vision

Fraxiom were making their entrance when The Brons and Paul Heyman appeared, attacking them and tossing them from the ring. Heyman got on the mic and ran down The Usos, and Fraxiom reappeared, dropkicking the Brons from the top rope. Nick Aldis appeared and made the match official.

The match began, and Paul Heyman could be seen talking into his phone as Miz and Cole wondered who he was talking to. Fraxiom hung with The Brons for a bit until Reed hit the Jagged Edge on Nathan Frazier. Reed set up for the Tsunami, but Axiom attempted to interfere. Breakker then caught him in a flying spear as Reed hit the Tsunami for the win.

Heyman then got on the mic but was swiftly interrupted by The Usos cutting a promo from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Nia Jax, Jade Cargill, and Tiffany Stratton

Next, Nia Jax cut a promo running down the Women’s division and said she put Tiffany Stratton in a “Tiffy Time Out”. Jax then ran down Jade Cargill, specifically mentioning her lack of in-ring ability.

This brought out Stratton, who told Jax to stop obsessing over her. Stratton then started heading towards the ring, but WWE officials stopped her. This brought out Jade Cargill, who began taking out the official. Nick Aldis then appeared and made a Women’s Championship triple threat match next week on SmackDown.

Backstage, R-Truth was educating Rey Fenix and the Motor City Machine Guns on how to watch Wrestlepalooza. Truth said he had to finish downloading a show to his toaster as he put his phone into a toaster and stared at it as the segment ended.

United States Championship

The next match was Carmelo Hayes answering Sami Zayn’s United States Championship Open Challenge. Miz was acting as an over-the-top cheerleader for Hayes as the match began. Hayes hit an impressive-looking reverse springboard leg drop with Zayn draped over the second rope as the show went to commercial.

After the break, Hayes and Zayn went back and forth until Hayes stopped a Helluva Kick with a kick of his own as the show went back into break. Upon return, Hayes had a few near falls with several moves, including the First 48. Hayes then went for Nothing But Net, but Sami Zayn reversed it, hitting the Blue Thunder Bomb out of nowhere for the win.

Backstage, Kit Wilson was talking to Nick Aldis when Damian Priest interrupted, looking for Aleister Black. Wilson called Priest “toxic,” and Priest responded by throwing him through the drywall of Aldis’ office.

Part two of the Joe Tessitore-narrated John Cena / Brock Lesnar rivalry aired.

A Solo Sikoa promo package aired with him telling Tanga Loa that he owes it to him to make him a champion again.

Contract Signing

The main event segment was the contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. Rhodes kicked things off by noting that he and McIntyre won the tag titles fifteen years ago today. McIntyre held up his phone and showed a tweet he had just posted, saying “Thank you, Cody,” and stated that the fans would move on from Cody to the next flavor of the month.

The two started brawling, and Drew set up to kick Cody through the announce desk again, but stopped himself, realizing he didn’t want to screw up the match tomorrow. This allowed Cody to recover and attack McIntyre as officials tried to separate them. Drew laid Cody out with two big boots as the show went off the air.
