AEW World Tag Team Championship

AEW Dynamite from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, kicked off with AEW Champion Hangman Adam Page saying that Kyle Fletcher impressed him at All Out. Hangman then addressed Lee Moriarty, whom he will face in a World Championship Open Challenge later tonight.

From there, we jumped directly into AEW Tag Team Champions Brodido defending their titles against The Demand’s Gates of Agony, with Ricochet taking a seat at the commentary table. Early on, GOA seemed to have Brodido’s number and even exerted dominance over Brody King. Finally, King made the hot tag to Bandido, and the face team went to work. Banddido attempted the Twenty-One Plex, but Bishop Kaun thwarted the attempt.

Toa Liona then slammed Brody King onto the timekeeper’s table, which distracted referee Aubrey Edwards. Ricochet took the opportunity to go after Bandido with a chair, but was caught red-handed by Edwards and ejected from ringside. Brody King then dove onto Toa Liona on the outside. Simultaneously, Bandido hit the Twenty-One Plex for the pinfall victory.

Backstage, The Conglomeration was interviewed and asked who their third man would be for their match against the Don Callis Family. Mark Briscoe made a bunch of “orange” puns but said he couldn’t reveal their partner. After the segment, another “Clon” glitch happened briefly.

New AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron were interviewed, and Statlander said she was beaten up. Still, she’s a fighting champion, so she is ready for Mina Shirakawa tonight. When asked about her association with the Death Riders, she replied, “Things can move really fast when you make decisions.” Cameron interjected that she would run very fast into her arms after she wins tonight.

AEW World Championship

Next was the AEW World Championship Open Challenge with Hangman Adam Page taking on Ring of Honor Pure Champion and Pittsburgh’s own Lee Moriarty.

Moriarty held his own with Hangman and got support from his hometown crowd throughout the match. He reversed an attempt of the Deadeye into an Octopus Stretch and followed that with his Border City Stretch submission. Hangman ultimately picked up the win with a short-arm clothesline followed by the Deadeye.

Footage aired from All Out with Adam Copeland telling Christian Cage that he can’t keep doing this when it’s affecting his family. Copeland said he had to go, and he doesn’t know if he will come back. Christian said that he didn’t have a family, but Copeland said he did and shook his hand before leaving.

FTR Speaks

Tony Schiavone welcomed FTR to the ring to explain their actions after attacking Beth Copeland at All Out. FTR said that Copeland was the one to blame for what happened to Beth and that she didn’t work for AEW. Dax Harwood said that he thought it was Adam Copeland, not Beth, he was piledriving in the ring this past Saturday. This brought out Willow Nightingale, who defended Beth, saying that she was an inspiration to her. Willow said Beth is the reason why women like her don’t take shit from guys like them. Willow then slapped Stokely, and JetSpeed appeared to even the odds, taking out FTR.

A video aired showing MJF in the aftermath of the Tables ‘N Tacks match at All Out. MJF said that he has accomplished a lot, but since he lost his title, he’s just a caricature of himself.  He said that he wouldn’t return until he was as dangerous as he could be. With that, he ripped a thumbtack from his arm, chewed it, and spit it out.

Orange Cassidy Returns

Next up was Don Callis Family’s Hechicero, Kazuchika Okada, and Konosuke Takeshita taking on The Conglomeration’s Mark Briscoe, Hologram, and their mystery partner. Before the match, Don Callis attempted to unveil a new painting, but Orange Cassidy was inside the painting. This led to a brawl before the bell as the faces took control.

Don Callis joined the commentary team for this match and was asked whether everything was okay between Okada and Takeshita. Callis said everything was great and managed to get some shots in on Hologram behind the referee’s back. Danielson added that Briscoe must be in line for a title shot after his victory over MJF.

The Conglomeration picked up the win after Cassidy hit the Orange Punch, followed by the Portal Bomb on Hechicero. After the match, TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher cut a promo, saying that at All Out, he proved he belongs in the main event. Fletcher brought up the fact that Hologram was 34-0, but he hadn’t faced him. With that, he proposed a title vs. streak match next week at Dynamite 6, and it was made official immediately.

Mina Shirakawa was interviewed backstage, saying that she hadn’t heard from Toni Storm since Saturday. Mina said that she and Toni always agreed that they would fight when hurt, and tonight she fights for herself and Toni Storm, too.

A Jack Perry promo aired with footage of him resurrecting Luchasaurus and them taking out The Young Bucks this past Saturday at All Out. Even Marko Stunt was shown briefly in this promo. It was announced that Jurassic Express would return next week at Dynamite 6.

Claudio Castagnoli vs. Powerhouse Hobbs

The next match saw The Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli taking on The Opps’ Powerhouse Hobbs. The commentary team noted that Castagnoli was responsible for injuring Katsuyori Shibata and that this match would be personal for him. Hobbs charged to the ring from the crowd and jumped Claudio to kick things off. Claudio recovered, throwing Hobbs into the steel steps and then suplexing him twice in a row on the ringside barricade.

The momentum shifted back and forth until PAC appeared on the ring apron, distracting Hobbs and allowing Claudio to roll him up for the win. Samoa Joe ran out to chase PAC off, but then Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia joined in, beating down 2/3 of The Opps. This brought out Hangman Adam Page to even the odds, as the announcers explained that Hangman was returning the favor for The Opps, who had helped him in the past. A little later, it was announced that next week it would be the Death Riders vs. Hangman, Joe, and Hobbs in a Trios match.

Tony Khan’s Announcement

Tony Khan appeared on screen and announced the Women’s World Tag Team Championships, then threw it to Renee Paquette to unveil the new titles. No further details were provided about how the inaugural champions would be crowned.

AEW Women’s World Championship

The main event of the evening was the new AEW Women’s World Champion, Kris Statlander, defending against the Interim ROH Television Champion, Mina Shirakawa. Wheeler Yuta was out briefly before the bell rang to impart more advice for Statlander.

Shirakawa focused on Statlander’s knees throughout the match, including driving them into the outside and applying the Figure Four. Shirakawa essentially had Statlander beat when, out of nowhere, Stat used the Seatbelt pin just as she did this past Saturday, to pick up the win. After the match, Wheeler Yuta and Harley Cameron entered the ring, congratulating Statlander when the Death Riders appeared. Yuta hugged Statlander, but then clotheslined Yuta and gave the finger to Jon Moxley before Stat and Harley escaped into the crowd.

Darby Allin then appeared with a flamethrower and pointed it at the Death Riders. Moxley and company retreated. Darby challenged Moxley to an I Quit match for WrestleDream on October 18th. A Mixed Tornado Tag Team Match was announced as the show was going off the air, with Darby Allin teaming with Kris Statlander to take on Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir next week.
