Mercedes Moné’s AEW TBS Championship defense at AEW WrestleDream tonight will now be a title vs. title match.

AEW President Tony Khan announced the new stipulation via social media on Saturday. The change requires Moné’s opponent, who has not yet been named, to also be a champion and put their own title on the line.

Khan posted:

“After last night’s Arena México win, longest reigning TBS Champ @MercedesVarnado puts up the TBS Title vs any champion + their belt! 10 Belts Moné aims to set the record for most belts held simultaneously TONIGHT!”

The stipulation gives Moné an opportunity to match or potentially surpass Ultimo Dragon’s record of holding 10 championships simultaneously.

Khan’s announcement followed Moné’s successful CMLL Women’s World Championship defense against Persephone in Arena México on Friday night. Moné has also surpassed Jade Cargill’s 508-day reign to become the longest-reigning AEW TBS Champion in the title’s history.

Following WrestleDream, Moné is scheduled to travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Sunday. She will challenge Jody Threat for the Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship at the promotion’s Rumble in the Burt event.
