Luke Menzies is expecting to undergo neck surgery.
The former Ridge Holland appeared on Busted Open Radio on Monday to speak about his situation.
He is currently recovering from a Lisfranc injury, sustained in September at the TNA tapings in Edmonton while under contract to WWE. After the injury, he was informed his contract would not be renewed once it expired on November 14, but the company would cover his rehabilitation costs.
The relationship has been icy after Menzies made a post on social media critical of WWE, leading the company to release him from his contract days before it expired. Menzies has since apologized, saying it was done out of frustration, and acknowledged it was a breach of his deal to disparage WWE.
On Busted Open Radio, Menzies said he’s likely to undergo neck fusion surgery on his C-5 and C-6 vertebrae, and being it’s an “open case” as he described, WWE will cover the surgery and likely rehab afterward.
Menzies notes it’s his eighth surgery in eight years and is unsure about his future in pro wrestling, as he will be out for about another year and is thirty-seven years old.
A family member launched a GoFundMe campaign for Menzies, but the performer shut it down and stated he would use the money to get back on his feet, and when he could earn the amount back, would donate the same figure.
Menzies added he was frustrated at the lack of communication over the past year when he took more than a fifty percent pay cut and was re-assigned to NXT. He failed to get progress updates on what to improve on, nor was he given advance notice of his contract not being renewed.
